The McDonough Site Construction Safety Manager is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and oversight of safety programs at Nexus Circular’s construction site(s). This role ensures full compliance with company policies, applicable regulations, and industry best practices. The technician works closely and proactively with contractors, site supervisors, and the EHSQ Senior Manager to identify hazards, conduct inspections, ensure safe operation conditions and sustain a strong safety culture throughout all phases of site construction.
Responsibilities:- Conduct daily site safety inspections and audits, proactively engaging with contractors and site supervisors, to identify and resolve hazards and verify compliance with safety standards.
- Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), ensuring appropriate risk assessments and mitigation plans are in place.
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with safety policies and safe work practices.
- Lead investigations for near misses and incidents, utilizing cause mapping and root cause analysis to identify corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of safety inspections, audits, incident reports, and work permits.
- Assist in the development and implementation of construction safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Develop and enforce site-specific safety plans as needed.
- Provide onsite contractor safety orientation.
- Review and verify contractor safety plans and adherence to those plans.
- Facilitate contractor and internal construction safety meetings.
- Review, audit, and maintain safe work permit records.
- Provide safety KPI feedback to project stakeholders.
- Prepare safety-related content for project presentations and meetings.

Requirements/Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a safety-related role, including at least 2 years in a construction environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a fast learning curve.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; legible handwriting and accurate documentation are essential.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and vendors.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (preferred).
- First Aid/CPR Certification (preferred).
- Knowledge of Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) and Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) principles (preferred).
