The Interactive Proofreader/Editor reviews content in a web first environment that meets Vantage’s strategy and data driven goals.  This includes editing and proofreading Vantage content for Vantagetravel.com website, email, interactive fulfillment, and print promotion, including but not limited to catalogs, DM, groups, E-newsletters, requal mailings, scripts, etc. while working with internal/external partners to develop and deliver innovative content that will drive revenue targets and quality goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Last step in the proofing chain to ensure Vantage copy is grammatically accurate (spelling, punctuation, and syntax) and engaging to the audience. Verifies facts, dates, and statistics.
  • Responsible for proofing all print, email (promotional & trigger), web content updates and new product builds
  • Checks promotional pricing for accuracy against price grids supplied by Costings.
  • Checks all URLs to confirm working properly and linking to the correct location
  • Maintains Vantage style sheet, include communicating updates and changes to interactive copywriters, RMMs, costings, etc. Also maintains and updates pricing footnotes, ensuring that changes have been added to pricing templates.
  • Holds training sessions on an as-needed basis for people involved in the writing and proofing process, including copywriters and RMMs, on best practices, Vantage style, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Full knowledge of industry proofreading / editing standards, including Chicago Manual of Style and AP style.
  • Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently.
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Timeliness: Able to meet deadlines, including working overtime as needed.
  • Quantity - Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of the travel industry is a plus.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Office Suite programs,

including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must also be expert in editing using Acrobat

Professional. Knowledge of Plan Control or Wrike a plus.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,

technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business

correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond

to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and

Volume.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral,

or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in

standardized situations.
