The Role:

The Transmission Director will be a regional lead for National Grid Renewables in its expansion markets. Their duty is to evaluate electrical and economic characteristics of renewable energy projects. This individual will provide regional expertise to other functions within National Grid Renewables. The role will be critical in the origination, development, and operation of National Grid Renewables projects. This individual will report directly to the Vice President of Transmission.

 

What You Are Actually Doing: 

Core Engineering Duties:

·        Perform and direct generation interconnection studies.

·        Monitor and influence policy-making at multiple RTOs.

·        Negotiate generation interconnection agreements.

·        Perform technical and economic studies of renewable energy projects. 

·        Perform engineering economic analysis in conjunction with development, commercial, and finance teams.

 

Area Management Duties:

·        Manage strategic direction of transmission in PJM.

·        Coordinate all transmission aspects of projects in the area including origination, interconnection, development, construction, and operation.

·        Coordinate with National Grid Renewables senior leadership on projects in PJM.

·        Supervise and manage other personnel.

·        Provide ownership and sponsorship of projects in the area.

 

What You Bring to The Role:

·        A deep knowledge of PJM.

·        8+ years of experience within power or utility engineering.

·        Experience using either PSSE or PSLF.

·        Technical competency in high voltage transmission and/or distribution systems.

·        Working knowledge of RTO or region policy and rules.

·        Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience in engineering role.

·        Self-starter attitude.

·        Business and engineering acumen.

·        Strong communication skills.

·        A sense of ownership in day-to-day work.

 

Preference may be given to candidates:

·        Who are licensed Professional Engineers.

·        With renewable energy experience.
