POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

  • Substitute Associate Teacher - 12 units, permit preferred but not necessary

  • Substitute Teacher/Option 1 - 24 ECE units and a valid CTC Teacher Permit
  • Substitute Teacher/Option 2 - A.A/A.S in ECE, permit preferred but not necessary

  • Substitute Master Teacher/Option 1 - 24 ECE units, 2 Adult Supervision Units and a valid CTC Master Teacher Permit
  • Substitute Master Teacher/Option 2 - B.A/B.S in ECE, permit preferred but not necessary

 

  • Infant Toddler Substitute Teacher - A.A/A.S in ECE + 6 Infant Toddler units

 

Responsibilities: 

The Substitute Teacher (ST) is responsible for providing substitute teacher services to Child360 clients as directed.  Services include providing classroom instruction to children and creating an environment that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of the children in their assigned class.

Consistently promotes and models courteous Child360/community service in a prompt and efficient manner. Maintains positive relationships with all Child360 internal and external contacts through professional honest interaction. Responds to requests quickly and professionally recognizing that a request serves an organization and/or community need.

Daily Tasks 

Provides virtual or in-class room services through Child360 Substitute Teacher Program as follows:

  • Arrives to the client site, training, classroom, or meetings promptly
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with client, parents and other staff members
  • Delivers developmentally appropriate interactions and learning environment that supports children’s learning and growth.
  • Implements and provides applicable classroom curriculum and lesson plans as required and instructed
  • Ensures policy and regulation compliance to client site as required through: Title 5 and Title 22 Community Care Licensing regulations, Head Start, Early Head Start, and/or California Department of Education 
  • Assists with direct care of children through meal preparation, diapering/toileting, and housekeeping duties 
  • Provides responsive care to all children through individualized attention and individual welfare
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and respect for all children by incorporating the cultural, linguistic and familial beliefs and values into the classroom 
  • Maintains open communication with families to ensure smooth transitions between home and school 
  • Completes and reports any signs of child abuse to onsite supervisor and Child360 Project Supervisor as required by law

Physical Duties 

  • Driving throughout Los Angeles County   
  • Lifting to possibly physically pick-up children when needed and retrieve supplies.
  • Talking/Hearing to communicate with children, parents, co-teacher, staff, and supervisor
  • Standing to supervise children and communicate with parents
  • Walking to supervise children and move throughout the classroom and outdoors. May be expected to walk a flight of stairs
  • Reaching to retrieve needed supplies and work with children
  • Pulling or pushing to open/close doors, drawers, and cabinets
  • Bending to work with and communicate with children at their level and to keep classroom tidy
  • Seeing to obtain information from written materials and observe the safety of the classroom

Safety Practices 

Adheres to Child360 general safety practices and any unique safety practices for the Client, department and/or building. Must follow all CDC and local authority guidelines as required for Covid-19. 

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:   

  • A minimum of 12 early childhood education units from a college or university 
  • Valid first aid and CPR certificate or the ability to obtain one within 10 days 
  • Effective team-teaching skills for working with staff members, children, and families 
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and child development philosophies and practices
  • 6 – 12 months of practicum work, or professional teaching, preferred
  • Must be detail-oriented, have strong organizational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills   

Formal Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, human development, or related field, is required.  Teaching Credential or Teaching Certificate, preferred 

Language proficiency required/preferred: English required. Additional languages are a plus (e.g., Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Armenian)
