The Senior Contracts Manager (with oversight from Dir of Strategic Sourcing) will be responsible for developing, drafting, negotiating and executing multi-million dollar utility-scale solar contracts with EPC contractors and equipment suppliers.  The Senior Contracts Manager work cross-organizationally to ensure that alternate contracting strategies are considered at the earliest stages of technical specification, and that commercial factors are fully evaluated in early stage negotiations and project development decisions. The Senior Contracts Manager will also have excellent organizational skills, be able to manage multiple contracts at once, have excellent follow through skills and will have the ability to meet strict deadlines.

What You Will Actually Be Doing:

  • Run EPC RFP, prepare, negotiate and execute utility scale solar contracts (EPC and major equipment) that meet the company’s objectives for safety, delivery, performance, schedule, quality, price and terms & conditions.
  • Work closely with Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Permitting and other functions to ensure an integrated contracting approach
  • Develop and deploy negotiations strategies to achieve favorable outcomes during contract negotiations and dispute resolutions
  • Analyze and manage risk in contracting with vendors and be familiar with evolving quality factors within the PV and storage industries.
  • Report the contract status and schedule with project teams and management on regular basis.
  • Maintain documented files to accurately present a clear trail with regards to contract templates, approvals, executed contracts, and pending contracts.
  • Develop contract highlights & checklists for the project management and operations teams to better facilitate the management of contracts throughout the construction and operations phases.
  • Interpret existing contracts and advise the project management and operations teams on contractual and interpretation issues.
  • Conduct business dealings with the highest level of integrity and regard for legal and environmental issues.
  • Provides support to the preconstruction team during the due diligence and RFP stages.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision making even in ambiguous situations.
    Maintain supplier quality standards to ensure the Company's quality requirements are met with each and every delivery.

What You Bring to the Role:

 

  • BS in STEM, MBA, or demonstrated experience in driving procurement and/or transactions
  • 5-10 years of increasingly progressive contracts management in an EPC utility scale construction environment, including contract formation & administration, change orders, negotiation, etc.
  • JD preferred, but not required
  • Experience with a renewable energy supplier or developer or an "asset heavy" organization with a large CAPEX expenditure is ideal
  • Experience working in an engineered systems / project-based business model
  • Experience in renewable energy operations and maintenance preferred, but not required
