Description

The Accounting Manager oversees the Accounting department, prepares financial statements, manages financial aspects of grants, assists with audits and compiling the annual budget.

Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. 

  • Provides leadership, coordination, and oversight to team responsible for Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Cash.    
  • Manages all month end activities to drive a 5-day close. 
  • Reviews monthly financials while also approving balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepares budget vs actual reporting to create action plans for internal departments. 
  • Heavily assists with annual financial audit fieldwork in addition to leading audits for various grantors.
  • Assists with Medicare Cost Report and 990 tax return as needed.
  • Assists departments with annual budget exercise as well as loading budget in its entirety to financial system.  
  • Manages all financial aspects of grants and awards, including but not limited to reconciliations, audit support, internal reporting and progress reports to grantors. 
  • Partner with internal departments to coordinate workflows needed to comply with grants.
  • Approves bi-weekly payroll & acts as backup for front end payroll processing.
  • Serves as administrator for timekeeping system, audits system security and diagnoses system issues.   
  • Partners with leadership team to assist with annual merit reviews and submissions to payroll.
  • Approves all accounts payable invoices from department managers, manages check processing & serves as administrator to imaging system.   
  • Serves as bank administrator, preserving integrity of cash management system through positive pay and maintenance of accounts. 
  • Submits periodic calculations for providers, annual 1099’s and other department reporting as requested.
  • Maintains and enforces internal control measures.

Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant degree from an accredited four-year college or university.  
Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in an equivalent position.
At least two (2) years of experience in healthcare management.  
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred:
Financial Edge software experience.
Grant Management experience.
