Junior Financial Engineer

Description
Position requires the use of financial, programming, and mathematical modeling knowledge coupled with the use of valuation, analytical, and business intelligence tools. Under moderate supervision, the candidate will create mortgage pipeline, portfolio, and liquidity monitoring dashboards, support the execution of daily, monthly, and quarterly valuation and model validation processes, and maintain and automate several existing processes within the Capital Markets division of a large financial institution.
Position will have exposure to market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, portfolio valuation, and utilize the following tools: SQL Server, RStudio, R, Github, VBA, and Windows PowerShell. Entrepreneurial spirit, self-motivation, and hunger to learn are a must!
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Support Capital Markets team with process automation, mortgage valuation, model validation, analytics, visualization, and data management. •Build out actionable analytics for use across Capital Markets.
•Manage aggregation of data from multiple sources - servicing, origination, etc.
•Massage and scrub data for accuracy and quality.
•Design, build and maintain data processes from scratch.
•Communicate results of data reporting and analysis to senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Undergraduate or Masters in Math, Computer Science, Financial or Data Engineering, Finance, Economics, Quantitative Analytics, Statistics, or related field.
•2+ years of experience with various aspects of mortgage valuation, analytics, system testing, and process automation, or model validation.
•2+ years of experience working in Capital Markets, or a related group for a financial institution
•2+ years of experience with SQL.
•2+ years of experience with Tableau.
•0-2 years of experience working with Quantitative Risk Management (QRM), Compass, Polypaths, or similar valuation software a plus. •Experience in Secondary Marketing or Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSR) valuation experience a plus
•Progress towards the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designations is a plus.
•Experience working with mortgage data is a plus.
•VBA and Powershell programming expertise is a big plus.
•Must be a self-starter with a strong desire for continuous learning.
•Must have very strong communication skills (verbal, written, grammar, spelling) and be willing to ask questions and learn.
