Job Purpose:

Check in is responsible for maintaining a smooth patient flow.  Check in is the first contact with our patients, therefore, must be extremely courteous, patient, and have a neat appearance.  Check in must be able to maintain composure and politeness at all times while dealing with patients.  Check in must also be able to work and interact as part of a team and have the skills to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Essential Functions:

·            Greet patients and guests upon arrival.

·            Reviews and scans patient photo ID& Insurance Card. 

·            Give forms and necessary paperwork to patient to complete.

·            Review records for completeness and accuracy. Verify the correct patient demographic information, email, insurance information, pharmacy, referring physician, and gender.

·            Enter correct information into practice management system.

·            Scan into EMR demographic intake forms.

·            Collect appropriate co-pays and previous balances. If needed collaborate with billing on financial arrangements.

·            Maintain a neat and well organized reception area and waiting room.

·            Maintain patient restroom in waiting room-Urine cups, markers stocked.

·            Print encounter forms for add on patients not on original day schedule if necessary

·            Maintain front office filing system.

·            At end of day verify and balance monies collected. Prepare day sheet.

·            Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·         High School Diploma or GED.

·         Three years office experience with one year in a medical office environment a plus.

·         Prior traditional receptionist experience

  • Computer and keyboarding proficiency a must.

Preferred Skills

Urology Practice experience a plus.

Required Competencies

The position requires a high level of attention to detail and interpersonal skills. A can do attitude with exceptional customer service skills required. Must be able to multi-task and work under pressure effectively.  Excellent and accurate typing and keyboarding skills a priority for this position. This position requires a high level of confidentiality.
