The Medical Records Technician is responsible for patient medical records including all aspects of inputting and exporting information efficiently and accurately.

Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. 

• Processes requests and authorizations for release of medical information with appropriate release
• Reviews all documentation for completeness and routes incomplete documents to the appropriate pod for correction prior to placing/scanning in the medical records.
• Provides prompt customer service for walk in and phone call medical records requests from patients and healthcare providers.
• Schedules third party chart audits and provides auditor feedback to manager for appropriate correction of any standards that have not been met.
• Scans/indexes individual documents into electronic health record (including but not limited to pathology reports, labs, medication lists, and correspondence).
• Processes subpoena or court ordered requests for information in accordance with the law.
• Sorts and distributes all incoming faxes and submits any lab/study/pathology report and specialist consult reports to appropriate provider for review.
• Facilitates death certificate processing and physician sign off.

Required:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
