Job Description
Our direct client is seeking an experienced Integration Engineer with a strong track record of delivering high-caliber results with high client satisfaction. The successful candidate must be energetic, communicative, intelligent, passionate, and motivated. The Integration Engineer will work as part of a team to develop health information integrations utilizing InterSystems HealthShare on an existing, successful VA project. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of CS fundamentals, as well as experience in InterSystems’ HealthShare. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of VA, Community Care, and VIP.
Key responsibilities
• Be an advocate for our VA customer stakeholders and the ultimate beneficiaries of our solution - our Nation’s Veterans
• Research & develop custom solutions for a variety of healthcare customers, from new solutions to mature, large scale distributed deployments
• Work on POCs and cutting-edge features before they’re integrated into the product
• Influence product decisions, features, and APIs based on your real-world usage experience
• Independently take projects to completion
• Assist other Inoventures teams in the evaluation of future technical needs
• Research & develop custom solutions for a variety of healthcare customers, from new solutions to mature, large scale distributed deployments
• Develop a keen understanding of technical goals and requirements and develop a vision to translate those requirements to the end-product
• Collaborate with program management, VA stakeholders, the program team, and Inoventures management to ensure a high level of quality across the project to ensure its success
• Develop a keen understanding of program goals and requirements and develop a vision to both meet the customer’s current needs, and for the evolution of the program to meet changing client needs
• Anticipate project challenges and risk scenarios and prepare, lead, and execute proactive mitigation strategies to ensure optimal results
• Meet individual potential and performance expectations
• Maintain knowledge of VA rules and regulations
• Understand and comply with the Veteran’s Affairs Veteran-focused Integration Process (VIP)
• Other duties as assigned by project leadership
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent)
• 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
• Experience in the coordination and integration of multiple IT systems/subsystems into an operational unit, ensuring full functional and performance capabilities are retained
• Experienced in introducing new hardware or software into a new or existing environment while minimizing disruption and mitigating risks

Additional Minimum Qualifications
• 5 years of development experience with HealthShare solutions
• Experience with Intersystem technology stack (Caché, Ensemble, HealthShare)
• Understanding of HealthShare solution design
• Familiar with consuming, designing and developing HealthShare integrations with a variety of standards: HL7, FHIR, HTML5/CSS, SOAP and REST
• Experience with XML, XSLT, JSON, or other data formats
• Familiarity with relational & non-relational databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server, Mongo DB, Dynamo, Caché, Cassandra
• Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithm design, and complexity analysis
• A solid understanding of source control principles
• Experience with Agile Frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban
• Experience with TDD, continuous integration, continuous deployment, and automated testing
• Experience in debugging and correcting errors in computer programs.
• Experience working in an agile scrum solution development environment
• Strong creative, analytical, and problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Open to occasional travel (5% - 10% to VA and Vendor locations—typically DC or Denver)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a VA NACI clearance
• Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends as required
• Passionate and motivated self-starter that excels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment requiring only limited supervision
• A team player and a consistent, dependable performer, with an excellent work ethic, flexible “can-do” attitude, and a results-driven commitment to success
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, with strong delegation and follow through

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with InterSystems TrakCare and/or Health Share Referral Manager
• Experience with the VA’s Veteran-focused Integration Process (VIP) framework
• Experience with VA and/or IBM Rational Tool Suite
• Experience with VA VistA and Cerner HealthShare Integrations
• Experience working in a CMMI-DEV or CMMI-SVC environment at Maturity Level 3 or above
• Demonstrated experience working with a geographically dispersed project team
• Experience working in a CMMI-DEV or CMMI-SVC environment at Maturity Level 3 or above
• Demonstrated experience working with a geographically dispersed project team
