What You’ll Do

M2Gen is hiring a Bioinformatics Research Scientist to support bioinformatics research projects across the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN), an alliance of academic cancers centers working in close collaboration to accomplish more in the fight against cancer. The Bioinformatics Research Scientist will be part of M2Gen’s Science and Innovation team, leveraging M2Gen’s data and informatics platforms to support collaborative learning and ongoing research projects answering the most challenging questions in cancer.

Specific duties include:

  • Contribute your own expert knowledge and analysis capabilities to existing ORIEN academic research project abstracts, presentations and manuscripts
  • Lead M2Gen-driven research initiatives that foster collaboration between M2Gen’s biopharma clients and the ORIEN academic cancer centers
  • Provide feasibility assessments for newly proposed research projects
  • Perform routine analysis of M2GEN datasets in fulfillment of ORIEN member queries
  • Participate and contribute to ORIEN Research Interest Group monthly meetings

Who You Are

The ideal candidate will be a respected expert in bioinformatics and cancer genomic/transcriptomic/clinical data analysis with demonstrated publications in the field.

  • Track record of independent genomics, transcriptomic, and clinical oncology data analysis, publication of results, and public presentation of findings at national/international oncology-specific conferences
  • ​​​​​​Interested in the analysis of large genomic datasets
  • An expert in NGS analysis for DNAseq and RNAseq genomic datasets and metadata
  • An expert with the UNIX/Linux environment and cloud computing
  • A solid programmer in Python or other high-level programming language and experienced with R

What You Need

  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology or other applied science with solid analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, and bash/csh/ksh
  • Experience running bioinformatic/genomic/transcriptomic analyses
  • Ability to apply troubleshooting techniques to resolve complex, cross functional issues
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Passion for science and oncology
