Operational Technology Engineer
Description: The successful candidate will be working with IT, industrial internet of things (IIot), and operational technology teams to lead technology-driven business process transformation and innovation. They will partner with IT, Risk, Security, and Audit teams to establish operational compliance that streamlines operations while protecting the organization. The ideal candidate will possess Industry and Technology acumen, be familiar with business systems (IT), plant operations environment (IIoT), and with the ability to connect these domains to form the enterprise solutions approach.
Responsibilities:
Work with Industry solution providers, equipment manufacturers, and the Enterprise Resource Planning vendor to design and implement the required systems integrations points and data flow to achieve best in class lights-out-operations
Partner with sensors specialists to manage new sensors data streaming to IIoT platform. With data scientists and machine, learning engineers take on analytic results, develop them to an application with user interface, integrate with any pre-existing systems, demonstrate successful use cases win, etc.
Understand systems flow, data source, data usage, and technical requirements clearly, to meet the functionalities per user requirements
Accountable for the improvement and delivery of the applications geared towards industrial communications and data collection
Essential requirements for an IIoT architecture are scalability, real-time capability, interoperability, and data protection and security. Sensors, actuators, and intelligent devices that collect data (edge computing) and send it to servers (network) play a central role. They are further processed into action-relevant "smart data" using smart algorithms at the cloud computing level. These then form the basis for automated processes Qualifications:
Proven success in contributing to a team-oriented environment
Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
Minimum 5+ years of Industrial Control System Experience (PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI)
Minimum of 1 year of Industrial Internet of things experience including rapid design, prototyping, and deployment of embedded systems
Minimum 3 years of digital experience covering one or more of the following: IIoT, Industrial Internet, M2M, MES, supply chain, digital analytics, and RFID
Experience with communicating and data collection from systems such as sensors, controllers, and industrial systems
Experience with integration of diverse and ad-hoc systems
Able to articulate and present IIoT concepts to senior management
Experience in the Industrial environment is an asset
Experience with PLC, DCS, and SCADA is an asset
Ability to align and influence critical stakeholders
A strong supporter of customer-centricity. Understands the importance of demonstrating concern for satisfying customers. Passionate about developing goals to improve customer experience
Retain and convey a positive attitude in challenging circumstances 2
Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, UDP, and XML
Experience with backend programming (enterprise applications): Java, C#
Experience with (I)IoT platforms: Azure, AWS, IBM Watson, etc
