POSITION

The Technical Estimator supports the growth and development of PGC through providing technical advice, costs and specifications for a wide range of non-metallic part manufacturing projects to internal team members, handling inquiries from the sales team, providing clear, concise estimates and explanation of deviations and modifications from the original specifications, obtaining quotes and costs of specialist products from suppliers and providing general assistance in the day to day operation of the estimating function.

KEY RESULT AREAS (KRAs)

Metrics and/or timeframes may be assigned to the below KRAs to provide metrics that indicate whether the KRA has been successfully met; if the metrics are not met, the performance of the individual is below the expectations for this role. KRAs are essential duties of the role.

 Part Cost Estimating

  • Maintains a working knowledge of new and existing materials, internal manufacturing equipment, tooling, and variations in supplier/manufacturing techniques, etc. to ensure correct costing results
    • Contributes to the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process by collaborating with key contacts (such as Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Planner, Manufacturing Supervisor, etc.) regarding new processes, tooling, and techniques
  • Uses the resources and staff available, including but not limited to: Technical, Quality, Procurement, Sales, and Suppliers, to interpret inquires/specifications with a view to accurately predicting the cost of an appropriately described product or process
  • Communicates with outside suppliers to source material, finishing, manufacturing and freight costs
  • Collaborates with the company’s procurement department regarding the use of “preferred” suppliers
  • Optimizes cost, manufacturability, concerns, and works from/interprets Application Engineer input
  • Prioritizes workload within the constraints of known client return dates and identifies when overloads require team attention
  • Demonstrates a methodical and organized way of working and verifying one’s own work.
  • Demonstrates personal and team initiative on processing projects
  • Utilizes ACS and related/similar available systems and software to produce accurate estimate documentation and reports including but not limited to SalesForce
  • Collaborates with staff, management and with customers, to assure timely delivery of quality parts, and to meet the company mission statement
  • Able to read and interpret customer drawings, prints, and specifications

 QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful background of technical achievement, preferably within the nonmetallic die cut part manufacturing industry preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in cost data collection, reduction and analysis to support development of cost estimating methodologies required.

Computer Skills: Strong skills with computers & the willingness to learn and leverage our MRP software platform.  Strong PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel. Experience with SalesForce and Solidworks preferred.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form groups, the public, and other employees.

Mathematical Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to read and interpret part prints.

Typical office environment with the pressure of deadlines and the need to balance multiple priorities and interruptions; noise level is quiet to moderate in the office. On the manufacturing floor the noise level is loud.
