Business Analyst
 

Purpose 

The purpose of the Business Analyst role is to help improve the overall effective operation and service delivery of Corsica Technologies through the continual analysis and improvement of new and existing processes and systems. The Business Analyst works with stakeholders from across the organization to define, document, analyze, and continuously improve the processes and systems used in virtually all areas of the business. In this way, the Business Analyst plays an essential role in advancing the efficiency, quality, and effectiveness of business operations and service delivery. 

Responsibilities 

The responsibilities for this position include: 

Requirements Elicitation 

  • Gather requirements using a variety of techniques such as interviews, surveys, and historical data. 

  • Employ facilitation techniques in discussing requirements with users. 

  • Anticipate, quantify, and resolve problems and issues with requirements. 

Documentation 

  • Analyze, classify, and document requirements utilizing the Business Requirements Document (BRD) outline to manage the requirements according to their source. 

  • Control changes to the requirements baseline. 

  • Construct workflow charts and process diagrams using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) 2.0 standards. 

Structured Analysis 

  • Identify, classify, and document requirements using basic conceptual and logical process/data modeling techniques such as business process, data flow, and workflow. 

  • Clarify and validate requirements using data and process models such as use case diagramming, ERD diagramming, functional decomposition, etc. 

Testing 

  • Develop testing strategies and plans for execution. 

  • Design user acceptance test plans and test cases. 

Process Re-Engineering 

  • Examine current processes and identify opportunities to increase efficiency and consistency, particularly through automation. 

  • Work with developers and administrators to develop “as-is” and “to-be” states of processes from a code and systems perspective, including anything from security layers to integration with other systems. 

  • Identify which business modeling tools are appropriate given the task at hand. 

  • Participate in workflow analysis and other business process analysis to identify and clarify requirements.

  • Understands relevant regulatory, compliance, and governance frameworks. 

  • Understands auditing and security issues. 

Process Analysis and Documentation 

  • Highly inquisitive and analytical. 

  • Capable of analyzing all facets of established processes, to include purpose, required inputs, required outputs, and interrelation with other processes within the business. 

  • Able to assess down-stream impact of process changes to minimize risk and unintended consequences of change implementation. 

  • Able to identify opportunities for improvement within existing processes, especially opportunities for automation, for the sake of increased efficiency and consistency of execution. 

  • Able to document process flows using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) 2.0 standards. 

Systems Thinking 

  • Understands how a change to a component effects the system as a whole. 

  • Able to identify reinforcing and compensating feedback loops. 

  • The ability to understand how systems adapt to external pressures and changes. 

Information Systems 

  • Experienced in report writing (SQL, Power BI, etc.)  

  • Preferred experience working with ConnectWise  

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint. 

Education, Experience, and Certifications 

Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related technical field. 

  • 3+ years of associated work experience. 

Preferred 

  • Project Management experience. 

  • ITIL Foundations v3 certification or higher. 

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment 

In most cases, work will be performed in a climate-controlled office space. This position has the option of working remotely.  

Travel 

This position requires less than 1% travel. No overnight travel should be expected. 

Physical Demands 

  • Candidate should be able to lift 25 pounds. 

  • Job will require sitting for long periods of time and may occasionally require bending, lifting, and driving. 

Position Type/Expected Hours 

This is a full-time position for five, eight-hour days (40 hours total) per week. A one-hour lunch break is provided. The typical shift starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
