    Thompson is seeking a Staff Accountant to perform accounting functions necessary to document, process, post and verify financial data to the general ledger and to ensure Thompson's compliance with governmental reporting agencies by performing the following duties.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for effectively managing the accounting workload in order to meet all accounting and state mandated filing deadlines
    • Responsible for ongoing collaboration with finance/accounting team members to successfully execute finance department goals and objectives
    • Responsible for recording daily cash receipts in the accounting software and verifying/accepting Grant/Billable AR payments.
    • Prepare and post monthly revenue and investment journal entries
    • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and general ledger reports to distribute to department leaders
    • Review credit card transactions to ensure proper coding and post monthly journal to the general ledger
    • Review and process employee reimbursement requests
    • Ensure accuracy of expense allocation for accounts payable
    • Research AP invoices or payments as required, and resolve any discrepancies or vendor inquiries
    • Assist in maintaining vendor files and update information accordingly
    • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and monthly general ledger account analysis, including but not limited to AP, AR, Prepaids and Accrued expenses
    • Assist in yearly audit and budget preparation
    • Act as back-up to the AP clerk and the Accounting Associate
    • Must be detailed oriented, flexible and able to work independently to accomplish all required job functions
    • Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the Controller and/or CFO

    Position Specifications and Education:

    • Must have a valid North Carolina Driver License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
    • Education requirement for this role is: 4-year degree preferable
    • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in accounting or finance.
    • Must have knowledge of reconciliations, general ledger and the accounting cycle. Non-profit accounting knowledge a plus. Knowledge of non-profit software a plus.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software (excel-Intermediate level)
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    Salary Range: $45,000 - $49,000
