SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Purpose

The Senior Accountant is a key part of the Accounting Team focusing on the invoicing process on behalf of Corsica Technologies in a way that optimizes client relations and improves internal communication. The Senior Accountant should understand our organizational financial goals and accounting objectives and ensure the invoicing process aligns with those goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position include:

·       Take ownership of the invoicing process.

·       Understand the overall relationship between Connectwise and QuickBooks as it relates to billing and accounts receivable.

·       Understand billing and agreement processes in Connectwise.

·       Set up and maintain client agreements in Connectwise.

·       Monitor status of tickets associated with fixed fees and agreements.

·       Review time entries at month end during the invoicing process (billable, no charge, do not bill) to accurately bill time and expense to clients.

·       Generate invoices for agreements, tickets, project fixed fees, and miscellaneous items through Connectwise based on the billing cycle.

·       Email and/or mail all invoices.

·       Investigate invoice inquiries and answer both internal and external clients.

·       Escalate invoice, agreement, and collection issues to the Controller as required.

·       Communicate escalated issues to clients with regard to their account invoicing as needed.

·       Monitor accounts receivable and contact clients for collection, as needed.

·       Propose credit memo amounts to Controller for approval.

·       Manage tax-exempt customers and discounted customers.

·       Assist Controller with monthly closing activities related to billing.

·       Undertake project tasks as required.

·       Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities.

·       Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships.

·       Support monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting audits and clean-ups.

·       Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities.

Competencies and Qualities

·       Extremely high level of attention to detail.

·       Outstanding understanding of invoicing, accounts receivable, and accounting concepts.

·       Strong organizational, presentation, and client service skills.

·       Experience performing accounting activities such as reviewing general ledger entries and research of entries processed.

·       Interpersonal skills, such as telephony skills, effective communication skills (written and verbal), active listening, and client-care.

·       Critical thinking and awareness of financial goals for the business.

·       Meticulous record keeping and filing.

·       Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at once.

·       Awareness of Corsica Technologies key IT services for which support is being provided.

·       Able to think through challenges and offer solutions.

·       Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

·       Proficient with QuickBooks.

·       Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate data entry.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Required

·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

·       Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in Accounting

Preferred

Additional education or experience preferred.

Work Environment

In most cases, work will be performed in a climate-controlled office space. Work will require the use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, and multi-function printers. The position will be expected to make use of specialized tools and software for troubleshooting and maintaining systems and infrastructure.

Travel

This position requires less than 10% travel. Periodic overnight travel is to be expected.

Physical Demands

·       Candidate should be able to lift 25 pounds.

·       Job will require sitting for long periods of time and may occasionally require bending, lifting, and driving.

Position Type/Expected Hours

This is a full-time position for five, eight-hour days (40 hours total) per week. A one-hour lunch break is provided. The typical shift starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
