The Dental Billing Specialist is responsible for providing a variety of administrative and support services for the internal billing department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. 

• Compiles and verifies data from patient dental record to verify appropriate codes for optimal reimbursement.
• Prepare and submit claims for payment to the third-party insurance carriers on timely basis.
• Identify missing charges by reviewing reports.
• Keeps updated on all billing changes for third-party insurance.
• Follows up on insurance denials and takes appropriate steps to resolve discrepancies.
• Completes payment entry in a timely and accurate manner.
• Verifies that all electronic funds transfer (EFT) deposits and scanned checks have been posted by month end.
• Assist with patient payments and properly applying them to the appropriate date of service.
• Perform and review insurance/self-pay refund requests.
• Review, sort, and distribute the mail applicable to the billing department.
• Answer patient balance phone calls and questions.
• Cross train to provide support for medical billing duties that include applying unassigned payments and review of self-pay collection module in medical practice software.

Required:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
At least 2-years Dental Billing experience.

Preferred:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
