This growing, dynamic high-tech company headquartered in sunny Central Florida, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Finance & Accounting team and grow with us. Title: Accounting Manager
Reports to: Controller
Status: Full Time/Exempt
Location: Central Florida
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for managing the daily and tactical objectives of the accounting cycle through design, implementation, maintenance and management of all business functions and procedures for the accounting department to ensure efficiency and compliance with internal controls.
Job Duties:
- Schedule, coordinate, and direct the workload of accounting staff to ensure that assignments are completed in accordance with established company policies
- Manage staff performance, identifying training needs and individual goals to ensure and maintain required level of professional competence
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff to achieve responsibilities and personal performance goals
- Own and lead month-end close and year-end close processes to ensure timely close
- Prepare and/or review journal entries, account reconciliations, and other items related to month-end and quarter-end close processes
- Measure and monitor Programming costs and prepare profitability analysis and other ad hoc models
- Research and identify revenue or cost components to help executive make business decisions
- Calculate and prepare federal and state taxes filings, government surveys, other regulatory filings, and vendor requests and ensure timely submission before deadlines
- Support executive leadership team and other departments by providing timely and accurate financial statement reports
- Implement and manage accounting policies and procedures
- Support internal and external auditor’s information as required by providing timely and accurate accounting underlying support, drafting accounting memo, and providing answers and explanation to auditors’ inquiries
- Actively lead in process improvement including automation and efficiency projects
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to fulfill job function or as assigned
Job Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or accounting or relevant experience required
- Minimum of 6 years’ progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of three years’ supervisory experience required
- Positive mentality and detail oriented
- Proven skills as a leader of people
- Strong data analytical skills
- Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and able to perform accounting research and provide recommendations
- Advanced Excel and Word skills
- Ability to prioritize work
- Ability to think critically and develop solutions/options as necessary
- CPA preferred
