ABOUT THE ROLE

Logistics Property Company, LLC (LPC) is a rapidly growing industrial real estate developer and manager headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. To support the expanding business, LPC is seeking an Analyst – Financial Planning & Analysis (“FP&A”) to join the team, reporting to the Senior Vice President – FP&A.

The FP&A team is responsible for owning the forecasting and budgeting processes for LPC and forming cross functional partnerships across the business to provide decision support to executive management.  The Analyst – FP&A is a growth opportunity in which you will play a critical role in helping to prepare financial forecasts and budgets, analyze financial information, and maintain forecasting systems and financial models.

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong technical knowledge of accounting with an aptitude for problem solving and utilizing analytical skills to work through complex issues while working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.  Experience in commercial real estate and prior exposure Yardi Voyager would be advantageous. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Help build and maintain detailed, dynamic financial models to inform annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Participate in financial review meetings and partner effectively with project and finance teams to ensure reliable project forecasts
  • Review project actual results against budgets and forecasts, investigate variances, and prepare analysis of movements in project performance
  • Analyze data to provide project analysis and insights, proactively identify trends and areas of opportunity and risk, and develop understanding drivers of change
  • Assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly financial analysis package, including explanation of income statement and metrics
  • Serve as the key contact for job cost forecasting and analytics, engage with cross functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, and lead consistency across projects to help improve forecasting accuracy
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to prepare and maintain complex financial and reporting models, assist in reviews with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in preparation of specific Investor Reporting requirements and ad-hoc project analyses using a broad range of tools including Yardi and Excel
  • Maintain effective communication within team and coordination with the various project teams
  • Assist in various ad hoc financial analysis, financial systems and process improvements, and special projects
  • Conduct special project work for finance or other departments, as needed, through direction of Finance leadership

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have:

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree: Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of experience in FP&A or a related finance / analytical role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred qualifications

  • CPA, MBA, CFA preferred
  • Commercial Real Estate industry, particularly development, experience preferred
  • Experience in the areas of forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, data mining and interpretation
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a cross-functional team environment
  • Strong technical understanding of accounting, including preparation and analysis of financial statements  
  • Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving and analytical skills to provide solutions to complex issues
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel with exposure to building and maintaining financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis and problem solving
  • Ability and initiative to take on increasing responsibilities over time
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager and Yardi Advanced Budgeting and Forecasting is a plus
