JOB SUMMARY
The Business Analyst is a functional leader in a strategically critical role. To succeed in our small-company work context, this analyst will need to be able to think strategically with senior leaders and move to action at the front lines to work with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other partners in order to drive innovation.
The Business Analyst is assigned business objectives and partners with various business units to drive innovation. You will work with senior leaders and SMEs to define key processes, identify business problems/opportunities, guide technology options and lead project teams to successful technology implementations. This may include working with selected vendor applications or proprietary products.
This position is an individual contributor role in a fast-paced environment with systems ownership responsibilities for a variety of business and clinical systems. The Business Analyst serves as the application subject matter expert (SME).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include:

Business process definition – obtain understanding/expertise, lead sessions to define and document data and process flows, as necessary

Requirements gathering and management – lead sessions to generate ideas, document requirements with necessary specifications, mock-ups, user stories, process diagrams and/or workflows; manage requirements backlog and align to systems projects and/or releases, as appropriate

Documentation – document artifacts such as requirements traceability through testing phases, testing and validation documentation, end-user materials, etc.

Vendor management – evaluate new products, lead product selection with IT leaders, and project manage system implementation to ensure vendor meets requirements; may include managing consulting vendors for systems configuration

Team and Project Management – develop project plans; liaise technology/product management, SMEs and business leaders to drive systems implementation

Training and application support – training and end-user support for internal staff

System administration – for some systems, may assist or become the expert on system configuration to meet business needs
QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

5+ years experience in a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Applications Analyst or related role

BS in Business or Information Technology related field or equivalent job experience

Exposure to multiple diverse business applications and system configurations

Experience leading individuals across all levels of an organization, both business and technical, through analysis exercises to drive requirements and solution identification

Experience with documentation such as scope documents, user requirements, use cases, process maps and solution options

Good presentation and leadership skills
-
Ability to multi-task and deliver results across competing initiatives

Preferred but not required:

Clinical research or healthcare experience

Light project management experience such as documenting high-level project plans, status reporting and leading project team to success
WORKING CONDITIONS
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 37.5 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
May travel for business meetings, vendor meetings and/or practice visits to assess technology usage but should be infrequent.
