Position Description

The Fire Support Subject Matter Expert provide Fire Support Cell operation and establishment support for the Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) Support Services within the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA).

 

Responsibilities

  • Establish and operate a functioning Fire Support cell capable of conducting fires support coordination, answering calls for fire, and conducting basic targeting/weaponeering using integrated fire support systems and C2 systems on a given network.
  • Create and execute relevant scenarios and vignettes that provide a basis to validate fire support systems and network architecture in support of Naval, Joint and Coalition events.
  • Create and execute test cases for the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) and Target Handoff System version 2 (THSv2) government acceptance and Joint Interoperability Certification.
  • Provide Fire Support expertise to other MCTSSA events as required.
  • Transition validated architectures, processes, and system configurations to the Fleet Marine Force for use in an operational context.
  • Operate the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System, Joint Automated Deep Operations System, and Joint Targeting Toolbox from the Fires Support Coordination Center perspective.
  • Operate the Target Handoff System version 2 from the Joint Fires Observer and Joint Tactical Air Controller perspective.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (such as engineering, computer science, etc.). OR equivalent work experience
  • IAT Level II Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the establishment/operation of a Fire Support Cell.
  • Create and execute scenarios to validate fire support and network architecture in support of Naval, Joint, and Coalition events.
  • Previous work experience with MCTSSA is a plus.
  • Create and execute test case for AFATDS and THSv2 government acceptance and Joint Interoperability Certification.
  • Expertise transitioning of validated architectures, processes, and system configurations to the Fleet Marine Force for use in an operational context.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and SharePoint
     

Travel Requirements

Travel may be required to OCONUS (Hawaii and Japan) and the East Coast.
