EarthLink, a leading provider of Internet services is looking for a Database Architect to add to our growing Business Intelligence Team.

The Database Architect is responsible for overseeing the overall strategy of the development and implementation of the organization’s databases, including the storage, access and management of the information stored in these databases.

Job Duties:

·        Works to continuously understand the database and storage needs of the organization.

·        Plans, coordinates and updates the organization’s databases in conjunction with the Sr. Director of Business Intelligence and the Chief Digital Officer.

·        Designs user interfaces, global temporary tables, data transfer components, data partitions or data indexes. 

·        Maintains records of procedural codes and queries for applications.

·        Plans for upgrades or documentation of database architecture. 

·        Evaluates and reports on the speed at which the system(s) consumes resources. 

·        Identifies and analyzes the logical database structure for the company’s current and future needs.

·        Creates, develops, maintains, and controls the corporate data directory, which will include names, descriptions, sources of data, and keywords needed for categorizing and searching data item descriptions.

·        Ensures integrity of database system by developing, documenting, and enforcing security procedures and access controls.

·        Composes and develops protocols for levels of access necessary to view, print, sort, enter, revise, or delete material. 

·        Designs, implements, and periodically tests database backup and recovery procedures.

·        Analyzes requirements for current and future database performance; recommends equipment changes when necessary.  

·        Develops guidelines for database training for data-entry staff, data analysts, and end users.

·        Collaborates with various departments to identify needs; refines system to maximize multipurpose uses.

·        Outstanding oral & written communications skills.

·        Thorough understanding of computer languages used in database.

·        Thorough understanding of database design and construction.

 

Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field + 5-7 years of experience in Database Design/Architecture or equivalent education and experience.

 

Computer Skills:

·        Must be proficient in MS Office.

·        Minimum of five (5) years hands-on of relevant experience in RMDB systems, SQL queries, BI tools and Data Warehouse

·        Ability to summarize the output of analytic activities and models into an informative and concise format providing conclusions and recommendation

·        Hands-on experience with data profiling, visualization/reporting and query tools such as: Tableau, SAP Business Objects, MS SSAS/SSIS, Informatica, PL/SQL or T-SQL, MS Excel, Power Point etc.

·        Experience in Data Warehouse methodology, dimensional modeling and ETL techniques

·        Ability to lead or handle multiple projects with minimal oversight

·        Proven analytical, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills

·        Ability to resolve complex problems using analytic methodologies

·        Experience in Unix environment and Oracle database development is a plus

·        Experience in Telecom industry is a plus  

This is not a remote position -- we are currently remote due to the ongoing pandemic but will return to the office when it is safe to do so.  Qualified candidates must live in the Atlanta-Metro area and be able to commute to our Sandy Springs Office when we go back to the office.  Out-of-state candidates will not be considered.
