OFFICIAL TITLE: Trauma Informed Care Advisor (Innovations II)

Salary: $65,000/Year, + comprehensive benefit package (please see below for full benefits offered details).

Work location: Administrative Offices - Mid Wilshire, Los Angeles

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
                  Hybrid Schedule – 2 days onsite/3 days remote!
                  Occasional weekends or evenings.

Primary duties: To engage Child Care Providers, Early Education Site Supervisors and Teachers, WIC Center Workers, Faith-based employees and any providers of support to children 0-5 years old, to build capacity about trauma-informed and resiliency based approaches. Builds rapport and trust. Promotes and supports the mental health of providers, families, and children. Develops and delivers trainings and technical assistance related to trauma and resilience strategies to providers, administrators, and key staff at Early Childhood Centers.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Builds rapport and trust with child care providers, early childhood center providers, and other key staff who support children 0-5 to engage them in trauma-informed training and on-going support, as needed.
  • Promotes and supports the mental health of providers, families, and children aged 0-5, through ongoing education and linkage to community-based mental health providers and resources.
  • Develops and delivers trainings and technical assistance related to trauma and resilience strategies to providers, administrators, and key staff at Early Childhood Centers. 
  • Provides ongoing mentoring and consultation in the classroom around trauma and resiliency strategies, including, but not limited to, the Community Resiliency Model (CRM). 
  • Provides support and coaching to providers who work with children 0-5 in specific competencies around relationship building, attachment, and the creation of safe, supportive and nurturing environments to support resilience, and to prevent burn-out and vicarious trauma.
  • Assists in building parent, resident, teacher, and community capacity to address adverse childhood experiences through the promotion of protective factors and when necessary, provides referrals to mental health treatment.  
  • Provides ongoing on-site mentorship to support the tools and strategies that teachers and providers have been given around trauma and resiliency at various identified sites within the 12 identified zip codes of the program. 
  • Works collaboratively with Community Resilience partners in problem solving, information exchange, and coordination of efforts.
  • Participates in weekly group supervision and training provided by the Community Resilience program.
  • Regularly reports to supervisor to provide program status updates.
  • Assists in the implementation of the Program by participating in appropriate meetings and activities.
  • Follows state laws regarding mental health issues and confidentiality.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports in connection with case requirements by legal and contracting entities i.e., child protective services, probation, courts, Department of Mental Health, etc.
  • Must be able to maintain positive working collaborative relationships with partner agencies and providers.
  • Must have the ability to nurture respectful relationship with families and children.
  • Must be sensitive to the socioeconomic cultural needs of the population served.



REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Child Development or related field, or an MFT, from four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in child development related programs.
  • Experience and ability to work with adult learners and diverse client populations. Familiarity with child care provider population.
  • Knowledge and experience regarding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), toxic stress, and how trauma impacts child development.
  • Knowledge of child abuse/crisis intervention techniques and resiliency interventions preferred. Trauma informed certifications highly preferred.
  • Bilingual; English/Spanish or English/Korean preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, client database software, and Internet search engines.
  • Must have a Valid CA Driver’s license and insurance. Must have use of a motor vehicle.
  • Must provide current verification of a valid TB clearance and be compliant with all current Community Care Licensing requirements regarding vaccinations.
  • Must successfully pass the Department of Justice (DOJ) criminal background check prior to first day of employment.
  • Must present proof of having been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. No sponsorships are available for these positions.


COMPENSATION PACKAGE INCLUDES:

Vacation & Sick Time

· 10 days of Vacation per year for the first 2 years of service. Accrual at start.
