Position Summary:

VP of Sales and Marketing position is based in the Greater San Diego, CA area. VP must be hands-on, action-oriented and possess assertive and energetic leadership style. VP will drive the global selling process effectively including regular visits to government and commercial customers, sales reps and remote sales team members. VP will be responsible for leading and nurturing the global sales and marketing team as well as developing and achieving strategic sales plans based on the Company goals that will promote sales and customer satisfaction for the organization.
Additional responsibilities include understanding customer product roadmaps, providing customer/market requirements to engineering for development of new products, driving global go-to-market strategies, cultivating new customers, arranging win-win strategic alliances with third party technology firms, and setting a positive example for the sales team in terms of goal achievement and accountability for the results.
 

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  1. Develop strategies and tactical plans for growing the business and achieving the company’s global sales goals including increasing market penetration of customers in commercial sectors and government agencies at federal, state, local levels
  2. Leverage direct experience and deep knowledge of government contracting and budget cycles to increase the sales at existing agencies and also expand into multiple new agencies   
  3. Create a proactive and aggressive sales culture, drive Customer #1 philosophy, mutual BMS-Customer success, profitable business growth, strong teamwork, goal achievement and accountability for results
  4. Define and institutionalize necessary sales processes utilizing documented procedures that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required
  5. Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures including cross-functional collaboration with other departments
  6. Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting and achievement plans
  7. Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
  8. Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction
  9. Travel for in-person meetings with global customers and partners
  10. Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company
  11. Develop and manage Sales/Marketing budgets, also manage internal operating budgets
  12. Develop, implement and take ownership of Sales and Marketing Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  13. Manage the sales teams including remote management of international personnel, collaborate with operations department and other functions to deliver profitable growth
  14. Establish and monitor sales quotas, regions and team configurations to maximize sales productivity
  15. Coach team to achieve higher levels of selling expertise and define training programs that enable team to improve performance and achieve goals
  16. Support product management, new product definition, provide customer requirements documentation to engineering department, support product launch and go to market strategy
  17. Manage the company’s web presence, , marketing communications and represent and promote the Company at relevant global industry conferences and business events
  18. Participate in ISO Management Review
  19. Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility:
 Manages day to day sales department operations. Direct supervision over sales department staff. Partner with Human Resources for staff needs such as recruitment, performance reviews, termination, etc.
