I&C Field Engineer
Role Overview: 
The Instrumentation Field Engineer is responsible for the technical oversight of all instrumentation activities on the project. The selected applicant shall provide direction to instrumentation field engineering in support of the superintendents responsible for executing the instrumentation construction work. This position is not considered the design authority for the project, but only to enforce electrical construction per design. 
This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the facility is required. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist construction supervision in planning construction execution including installation sequence and procedures.
  • Prepare and assemble Construction Work Packages for assigned scopes, including required inspection and test records, drawings and data sheets to fully document installation.
  • Provide engineering assistance to Superintendents, including the interpretation of Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents such as installation instructions and manuals.
  • Review engineering design documents to ensure their completeness and constructability and prepares field change documents as necessary to support their assigned scopes.
  • Prepare construction working drawings for the use of superintendents as required, including: Temporary construction facilities, Field sketches of revisions and additions and preparing "as-built" drawings.
  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor and other technical documents.
  • Prepare and completes inspections records, test plans and test procedures, and other associated documentation for assigned discipline/scope.
  • Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting for all instrumentation quantities. 
  • Coordinate with engineering to resolve design and constructability issues. 
  • Work with the suppliers to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications. 
  • Prepare material requisitions, coordinate, and review vendor drawings. 
  • Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure the delivery of vendor materials to support the project’s schedule. 
  • Apply management of change process to the pre-commissioning instrumentation activities. This includes design changes, scope change, produces NCRs/RFIs/FCDs, redlines, and associated rework and retesting coordination as per project procedures. 
  • Assure that materials are stored properly to ensure environmental protection. 
  • Material receipt inspections as required. 
  • Supports preparation of field bulk material purchase requisitions, including estimating the quantities and material takeoffs of the field purchases of materials. 
  • Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management. 

Basic Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.  In lieu of degree, must have 12 years of relevant experience. 
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
  • Must possess legal right to work in the US. 
  • Must be able to pass nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power facility.   
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Recent engineering and construction experience in control systems.
  • Must be computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. 
  • Must be familiar with current industry quality standards. 
  • Working knowledge of the mechanical and piping construction operations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
  • Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accident safety program. 
  • Working knowledge with ASME NQA-1 1994, 2008 and Addendum 2009. 
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in field engineering activities of nuclear power and non-reactor nuclear facility EPC projects.
