TECHNICAL WRITER 

DEPARTMENT: 

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES – PRODUCT MANAGEMENT 

REPORTS TO: 

DIRECTOR OF LEARNING & ENABLEMENT

EXEMPT 

  

Job Summary: 

The primary responsibility of this position is to create and track technical documents by working with Product Managers, Software Developers, and Management. Technical documentation will be shared with internal and external iBASEt users as assistance to onboard, understand, and use our products. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Write, edit, review, and organize all software product documentation 

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into easily understood information products 

  • Work with software developers, product managers, and SMEs to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and documentation requirements 

  • Willing to dig in and figure out how features work by using the application 

  • Acquire subject knowledge through various methods including, but not limited to interviewing technical specialists, communicating with development team members, researching applicable topics, and demonstrating functionality by using the application 

  • Organize key sections, tables, screenshots, and attachments 

  • Take ownership of maintaining and updating existing software product documentation 

  • Produces a wide range of documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience, supporting planned and unplanned product releases 

  • Ensure documents are technically and mechanically accurate, and consistent about clarity, flow, organization, completeness, and readability 

  • Analyzes existing and potential content with focus on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities to increase efficiency 

  • Must have experience in effectively driving meetings with other team representatives to review documents, compile inputs/corrections, resolve incompatible comments, and provide final publishable documentation 

  • Coordinate with QA team on review and testing of all applicable documentation 

  • Work with Marketing to ensure release announcement is crafted and published at time of release 

  • Store, manage, and track draft revisions on company repositories until final drafts are completed 

  • Creating/assisting in transition to and maintaining content development on solution portal 

  • Organizes multiple simultaneous projects and requests 

 

Requirements: 

  • Straightforward, crisp, and clear writing style 

  • Experience writing documentation and procedural materials for varied audiences 

  • Attention to detail coupled with effective analytical and problem-solving aptitude 

  • Self-motivator with ability to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision or direction 

  • Ability to balance and prioritize many diverse tasks at once 

  • Fundamental knowledge of CSS and HTML 

  • Knowledge of Snagit, Adobe Acrobat Pro IX/DC 

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 

  • Excellent writing and organizational skills 

  • Ability to communicate effectively across a wide spectrum of people with varying degrees of experience and knowledge 

  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and images 

  • Ability to work effectively on several projects simultaneously, independently and within groups 

  • Ability to work with aggressive deadlines and tailor deliverables accordingly  

  • Self-motivated and flexible 

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 

 

Required Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or  

  • 4-6 years related experience
