Description
The Women’s Health Coordinator will work closely with the Women’s Health team to ensure appropriate access to health care for Lone Star Family Health Center patients. This position is designated as "essential personnel" during emergency operations and may require reporting to work or remaining at work during designated times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  
  • Provide courteous and compassionate assistance to patients and visitors receiving Women’s Health services.
  • Coordinate aspects of the Women’s Health department including, but not limited to, greeting patients, updating patient health and financial information, and answering questions regarding medical issues.
  • Work collaboratively with Women’s Health team to coordinate consultations or treatment recommendations as instructed by the provider.
  • Works with health plans as necessary.
  • Schedule patient appointments per established provider/department-specific scheduling rules.
  • Assist in managing Women’s Health emergencies and concerns with providers.
  • Call and coordinate care with patients, for example, following up with patients who have missed appointments or are due for treatment, calling in prescriptions.
  • Verify patient compliance and completion of treatment plans.
  • Act as an advocate for all patients, specifically those underserved individuals with sensitivity to each client's unique needs.
  • Responsible for management, ordering, and tracking of contraceptive devices in partnership with the Pharmacy staff.
  • Schedule procedures, surgeries, c-sections.
  • Track and coordinate Maternal and Fetal Medicine (MFM) referral process.
  • Track and follow-up on specific Women’s Health ultrasounds, laboratory, and pathology/cytology specimens and reports.
  • Rotate to help cover staffing shortages as necessary.​​​​​​
Required:
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program. 
Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Minimum four (4) years’ work experience in the healthcare industry.  Healthcare experience must include a significant amount of direct patient care.

Preferred:
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
