What You’ll Do
We are looking for an experienced software developer who likes to focus on coding and has an affinity for life sciences; specifically, oncology. You are completely comfortable with Java, My(SQL), Spring (or Java EE) and Javascript and eager to learn and apply new technologies. Preferably, you also have a working knowledge of ElasticSearch, Apache Spark and React.
As part of the M2GEN Science & Innovation team, you work with cBioPortal to facilitate cancer research and treatment. Here the focus is on understanding cancer through looking at the molecular characteristics of the tumor, such as mutations in the DNA and differences in gene expression or copy number, both from a research perspective and a clinical perspective- Write excellent code, tests and documentation
- Help less experienced colleagues to improve their coding skills
- Be able to work both independently on a task and in a team on a project
What You’ll Need- Master's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related field
- 3+ years of front-end web application experience
- Expert knowledge of Java, Javascript and Angular JS
- Data visualization in D3
- User interaction design and data visualization
- Expert knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Portfolio of web application work including Angular JS
- Active github/bitbucket account which demonstrates passion and coding abilities.
- Other experience inclusive of: React, Docker, ElasticSearch, Apache Spark
- Experience directly with cBioPortal deployment, maintenance, and development is a plus
