We are currently working with a client who have a new opportunity for a Director of Construction - (Renewable Energy) to join their Renewable Construction Team in support of the final design, construction, and successful implementation of multimillion-dollar renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities:- Must have recent Renewable Energy Experience.
- Provide hands-on leadership, planning, direction, and management of large renewable energy project sub-contract administration, construction, and commissioning resources to assure total quality and project delivery on time and within budget while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
- Plan, budget, track, and effectively manage organizational and team resources to achieve business objectives.
- Manage the renewable construction interface with engineering, plant operations, and business development teams including the establishment of interdepartmental processes.
- Oversee the development of detailed scopes of work and preparation of subcontractor bid and contract documents including negotiations and/or coordination of legal, business, and risk management reviews.
- Evaluate technologies and equipment to recommend the most suitable for each project application.
- Monitor vendor and subcontractor coordination to assure competitive cost, best schedule, and delivery to meet project budgets.
- Perform critical review of all submittals for quality assurance, technical accuracy, and customer-oriented solutions.
- Manage, review, and approve project construction costs and budget activity and provide monthly workbook update guidance to direct reports including forecasts of remaining cost and project revenue.
- Prepare, accurate, timely, and detailed monthly project status reports and schedules while providing leadership and guidance of schedule management to direct reports.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to generate project implementation efficiency and generate savings.
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes.
- Cultivate positive and effective business relationships.
- Perform other duties as required.
- BS in Electrical Engineering or energy infrastructure-related four-year technical engineering degree.
- Minimum of 15-years of electrical, mechanical, engineering, or industrial power construction project management work experience focusing on complex renewable energy and commercial solar installation projects.
- Experience managing and developing careers of direct reports with varying levels of experience.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors and consultants on complex, multiphase projects.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships.
- Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, MS Project, and cloud-based construction management software such as Procore or equivalent.
- Construction management certifications or state licensing.
- Valid Drivers’ License in good standing, issued by the resident state.
- Travel required.
