Position Overview: Director, Crisis Management
Directors at Dentons Global Advisors are the backbone of our teams and lead the development and implementation of crisis management strategies for our clients on a day-to-day basis. They manage junior team members’ work and learn to be trusted client counselors by engaging around high-stakes, event-driven matters in a fast-paced environment. They are excellent project managers, skilled writers and editors, and collaborative teammates with extensive experience overseeing content development and making the trains run on time. Our team operates a flat organizational structure and relies on our directors to work collaboratively with a group of global experts and across a number of critical engagements.

In this role, you will:

  • Help Fortune 500 companies and multinational organizations navigate significant threats to their enterprise value and reputation
  • Work in teams that may include international political risk and policy experts, legal experts from DGA’s partner firm, Dentons, and members of our international offices
  • Serve as a primary project manager and oversee junior team’s work product on simultaneous engagements that are complex and multijurisdictional
  • Turn ‘big picture’ strategies for managing complex engagements into actionable plans
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day client contact on sensitive matters
  • Manage matters with senior support, and help drive engagement objectives
  • Manage DGA team members, support team members’ professional development, and work to identify additional development opportunities
  • Run firm development initiatives and certain client workstreams with limited supervision

Expectations of a DGA Director:

  • Contribute to and drive crisis management strategy for clients
  • Develop junior talent and provide support and mentorship to junior team members
  • Collaborate with wider DGA colleagues in other offices and with Dentons lawyers
  • Be intellectually curious, eager to learn from coworkers, and excited to teach new skills to the team
  • Contribute to DGA’s own ESG agenda
  • Bring DGA’s full potential to engage with clients on their most complex issues
  • Think and act in a collaborative, creative, and integrated way
  • Consistently display excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Manage the delivery of large suites of documentation, being accountable for consistency and quality of other team members’ work
  • Be comfortable in a start-up environment
  • Understand confidentiality and act with integrity at all times
  • Effectively utilize research and innovative tools to the benefit of clients and the team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or equivalent and relevant work experience; legal training is a plus
  • 6+ years of experience in crisis management, crisis communications, or providing strategic advisory services in a legal environment, or in a crisis and/or litigation focused communications role, from a consultancy or in-house position, or the capabilities of someone of that level of experience
  • Experience being part of a team that counsels senior management teams and engages with lawyers on the communications processes
  • Highly collaborative working style
