Status:  Full-time Exempt
Reports to:  CEO
Direct Reports:  N/A
Travel:  In person 1-2x/week or as needed / up to 25% per month

Role / What you will be doing
As the Chief of Staff to the CEO of M2GEN, you will maximize effectiveness, drive alignment across the leadership team and execute essential tasks. From day one, you will have an immediate impact on business productivity. You will be involved in both high-level strategic objectives and the day-to-day operations. You will enable and facilitate the leadership teams’ execution of special projects by assuming some responsibilities that executive team members lack the time to complete. You will play a critical role in M2GEN’s growth and you are ready to take the entrepreneurial journey with us!

Responsibilities (this is not an all-inclusive list, duties may evolve over time as business needs change)
This role will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, assisting with priority cross-company initiatives, board level interactions and communications, and other special projects.  This role will also partner with members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and the broader organization to enable strategic and operational acceleration.  The successful candidate will be discrete, high-energy, agile-minded, strategic, proactive, highly organized and committed to the vision and values of M2GEN.  The Chief of Staff will be responsible for improving the efficiency of the business and being an air traffic controller for the leader, ELT, and broader organization.  The individual will be an integrator connecting work streams and linking knowledge and information across M2GEN. 

Direct support to CEO / Support CEO directly in driving: 
  • Critical leadership team level interactions, including monthly operating review meetings (internal and with investors), workshops, and offsites; responsible for agendas, content, and communications
  • Board level communication:  lead preparation and delivery of board communications
  • Planning, coordinating, and keeping contents of a meeting focused
  • Collaborating with executive team members to determine and prioritize business strategies
Strategic & Operational Planning
  • Implementing various strategic planning processes across the organization and providing leadership members with important company information to prepare them for upcoming meetings or presentations.
  • Execute strategic roadmap and key initiatives
  • Lead and facilitate competitive and financial opportunity analysis for key initiatives  
  • Identify opportunities for inorganic growth and / or capability building based on strategic roadmap 
  • Operational plan pull through - deploy tools and frameworks to enable teams to structure thinking and enable execution
  • Continue to implement process, governance, and dashboarding capability to enable and accelerate execution across all strategic initiatives  
Org Development Initiative Facilitation
  • Partner with various stakeholders (e.g., HR, key ELT members) to facilitate structured process in delivering revised organization structure
  • Providing department leaders with recommendations and consultation to improve outcomes
  • Providing leadership with important company information to prepare them for upcoming meetings or presentations
  • Support HR in reinforcing M2GEN’s vision, mission, and culture
Education / Experience
  • MBA from top tier program required
  • Experience in management/strategy consulting with top tier firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain or Deloitte) required
  • 5-7 years’ experience serving the life sciences industry required
    • Experience serving oncology R&D organizations preferred
  • Experience serving private equity portfolio or venture backed portfolio companies preferred

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders including board of directors, executive teams, broader organizational teams, and external partners or within the CEO network
  • Ability to build trust and confidence across stakeholders and effectively leverage relationships to drive desired outcomes
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and detail orientation
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook
  • Interest in Oncology a plus
  • Passion for science, data and learning
