Job Summary 

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely in support of the Manager of People & Culture.  This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, and recruitment/employment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
  • ​​Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.​​​​​
  • Administers and monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary. ​​​​​​
  • Participates in benefits administration and payroll, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefits and payroll information to employees. 
  • Handles employee relations, conflict resolutions, and exit interviewing.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as necessary.
  • Conducts recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, internship, temporary, and contract employees; conducts new-employee orientations; writes and places advertisements, and maintains and evaluates applicant tracking systems. 
  • Maintains company organization charts and the employee directory.
  • Assists and maintains agenda and slides for presentations weekly.
  • Assists in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve the efficiency of the department.
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations

Qualifications and Requirements

  •  Associate's degree or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  A certification of SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is preferred.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  •  Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills as well as attention to detail.
  •  Ability to travel to Ascension’s headquarters in Pennsylvania is required.
  •  Ability to act with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality is required.
