Texas Gas Utility Services, Inc. is a privately-held growth entity focused on bringing critical natural gas infrastructure to developing markets across Texas. The Company is currently focused on rapidly expanding the availability of safe, reliable, and affordable natural gas services to residential and commercial customers.

The Safety Representative will be responsible for developing and implementing safety programs placing emphasis on office and field personnel safety. This position will implement and uphold all safety policies and work practices to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and for notifying operations management of violations of the policies and practices so management can enforce them. The Safety Representative will also ensure that all employees recognize and follow all Local, State, and Federal rules and guidelines set forth by governing bodies such as OSHA.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Develops and implements corporate guidelines for reporting, processes, and procedures related to operational and general employee safety.
  2. Mentor/coach supervisors and employees in all safety related topics and programs including but not limited to: exposure identification, housekeeping, inspections of facilities and equipment, and identification, classification, and reporting of incidents and potential hazards.
  3. Assist facility management in coordinating required environmental data collection activities, field inspections, record keeping, and reporting requirements as is necessary to comply with federal, state, and local guidelines, policies, and laws.
  4.  Checks to ensuring plant have adequate safety equipment and necessary PPE.
  5. Enforces and promotes safety regulations, policies, and procedures, scheduling mandatory safety training for all personnel.
  6. Schedule and attend field safety inspections and employee testing. This includes unscheduled and unannounced field visits.
  7. Implements compliance tasks through training and inspections. This includes following up with tasks to ensure accuracy and completion.
  8. Develop an understanding of the company operating requirements to maintain safety & training programs with all levels of employees.
  9. Data tracking and reporting to upper management in the following areas: Vehicle tracking & safety, and recordable incidents.
  10. Ability to analyze incident data, new processes, and machinery/equipment for potential safety concerns.
  11. Trains and assists all management in preparing required incident notification, reporting, and investigation reports to ensure that all appropriate documentation is completed in accordance with company-established incident reporting requirements.
  12. Investigates accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future. Once the investigation is complete coordinate with Human Resources for any necessary corrective actions.
  13. Implement and coordinate any paid or unpaid administrative leave during incident investigations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Equivalent Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • 2-5 years in a Safety related role
  • Knowledge of various industry safety training (Lockout/Tagout, fall Protection, Confined Space, etc.).
  • General knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations.
  • Understands requirements with OSHA record keeping requirements and other regulatory and company requirements.
