Position Overview - Associate Partner, Crisis Management
Associate Partners at Dentons Global Advisors come from a range of professional backgrounds, and our team includes former practicing lawyers, investment bankers, government advisors, business strategists, and corporate advisors. Associate Partners are experienced client counselors, corporate advisory leaders, highly skilled project and engagement managers, excellent communicators, collaborative teammates, and strong culture-setters with deep experience engaging with all of our clients’ core stakeholder groups. Associate Partners have the opportunity to apply their experiences and insights to critical, global issues for our clients and will play a significant role in shaping our firm.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide expert strategic advisory counsel to general counsels, C-Suites, and external affairs leaders related to high-stakes issues and crises
  • Help Fortune 500 companies and multinational organizations navigate significant threats to their enterprise value and reputation
  • Work in teams that may include international political risk and policy experts, legal experts from DGA’s partner firm, Dentons, and members of our international offices
  • Engage with external counsel and ensure that legal and crisis management strategies are aligned
  • Manage client relationships to meet engagement objectives and grow and/or win new mandates
  • Manage DGA team members, support team members’ professional development and work to identify additional development opportunities
  • Handle small engagements with no supervision and mid-sized engagements with limited or no supervision
  • Identify and lead business development initiatives 
Expectations of a DGA Associate Partner:
 
  • Significantly contribute to and drive crisis management strategy for clients
  • Develop junior talent and provide support and mentorship to junior team members
  • Collaborate with wider DGA colleagues in other offices and Dentons lawyers
  • Maintain established networks, share network contacts with the wider DGA team to the benefit of the group, and continue to expand network connections
  • Contribute to thought leadership pieces, marketing activities, and other relevant events
  • Originate and win new mandates
  • Support learning and development initiatives and lead training sessions  
  • Contributing to DGA’s own ESG agenda
  • Effectively utilize research and innovative tools to the benefit of clients and the team
  • Bring DGA’s full potential to engage with clients on their most complex issues
  • Think and act in a collaborative, creative, and integrated way
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or equivalent and relevant work experience; legal training is a plus
  • 9+ years of experience with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a crisis management, crisis communications, or providing strategic advisory services in a legal environment, or in a crisis and/or litigation focused communications role, from a consultancy or in-house position, or the capabilities of someone of that level of experience.
  • Experience being part of a team that counsels senior management teams and engaging with lawyers on crisis management and communications processes
