1. Sr Systems Engineer- System Test Requirements

 

Job Description:

Sr Systems Engineer- System Test Requirements:

Systems Engineer – System Test Requirements will play a critical role in the development and allocation of system test requirements and produce test planning artifacts such as test objective memoranda (TO Memos) and other supporting analysis documentation and briefings.   Test planning artifacts will be developed through a thorough understanding of the Integrated Master Test Plan (IMTP) and Integrated Master Assessment Plan (IMAP) which define, document and coordinate ground test primary and secondary test objectives for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).  Individual will proactively coordinate System Test activities and products across the MDA enterprise, and regularly collaborate with functional group leads, senior management, and government personnel.   The System Engineer will routinely brief task status, issues and recommended resolutions to stakeholders.

 

Required Qualifications:  Individual must have a strong understanding and experience with MDA system level test planning including detailed involvement with IMTP, IMAP and assessment databases.  Must understand System Test Requirements, software versions, and alignment to the Phased Implementation Plan (PIP) across multiple baselines and increments. Demonstrated experience with coordinating test-related issues across MDA 2 and 3 letter organizations. Demonstrated understanding of or experience with the (IMAP), its underlying database. Understanding and or demonstrated experience with parsing and mapping software and hardware versions to capabilities in higher or lower level documentation.  Individual must possess good communication skills.  Capable of working both independently and in a team environment, proactively engaging with customers and stakeholders and solving complex problems.

 

Desired Qualifications:   Systems engineer or Test Engineer with extensive understanding of and or experience with Missile Defense Systems (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control (FOM, GFC), C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, counter-countermeasures, or threats). A basic understanding of system level requirements, performance parameters, technical performance measures, key test points, sensors, missiles, interceptors, detection/tracking, or Command and Control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.)

 

Education:   Degree and experience in an engineering classification, operations research, mathematics or physics, or other degree coupled with significant test and/or systems engineering experience: Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD

 

2. Mid Systems Engineer - MBSE

 

Mid Systems Engineer - MBSE Requirements

Job Description:   Perform model based systems engineering (MBSE) functional and behavior analysis for the defeat of conventional and advanced Threats (e.g., ballistic, aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.) systems within the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) mission area.  Participate in a MBSE environment to develop system-of-systems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis. Contributes to publishing change notices to  MDA’s system specification and update of requirements databases, architectural models, interface definitions, and DoDAF 2+ compliant based design packages to document, allocate and trace system and Element level requirements.   Document analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by SC&R and National Team stakeholders.   Create and present briefings within the team and to Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and supporting stakeholders.   Work in, and may lead, a multi-disciplined team of 2-4 engineers in the execution of these tasks.

 

Required Qualifications:   Individual must demonstrate a strong technical background in architecture development with system-modelling tool such as “Cameo”, “Rhapsody” or similar tools using SysML.  Individual must be able to demonstrate knowledge of one-or-more of MDA systems or capabilities similar to:  EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, kill vehicles, missiles/interceptors, threats & countermeasures, target discrimination, or command and control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.).  Candidate must demonstrate ability to think critically and capture concepts in papers, presentations, and discussions. Individual must possess good communication skills.  Capable of working both independently and within a small team environment. Individual must have a current, active Secret security clearance.

 

Desired Qualifications:    Strong prior experience with use of Cameo and DOORS.  Demonstrated experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.).  Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems ((e.g., aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.), a discriminator in selection.  Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the Ballistic missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control, C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.). Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems. 

 

Education:   Degree and experience in an engineering classification, mathematics or physics: Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD.

4. Systems Engineer – Analysis & Test

 

Systems Engineer – Analysis & Test Requirements

Job Description:     This systems engineering position’s primary role will be representing the National Team – Engineering (NT-E) on the MDA Joint Analysis Team (JAT). In the test analyst role, the candidate will develop plans for ground and flight test data analysis and supporting documentation. The role includes developing approaches to, along with tools to support, performing test analysis on the complex Missile Defense System (MDS), and reporting results in writing for presentation during data reviews. The systems engineer will be responsible for working with associated Systems Engineering (SE) teams, Test Organizations, Warfighters and Element Program focals to ensure MDS tests meet technical intent, system capabilities, and behaviors. In the test analysis role, the candidate will develop, utilize and present analytical products with the intent of assessing strategic and/or theater/regional element system level performance of the MDS in ground test and flight test events. 

 

Required Qualifications:   Knowledge of ground test design and data collection for a complex missile defense program.  Knowledge of System Engineering for test campaign and test event design processes in support of system assessment. Experience and understanding of system level behavior.  Understanding performance characterization of battle management and command and control functions and their associated information exchange requirements tied to specified performance metrics that are traditionally demonstrated in system level test events. Candidate must be proficient in using analytical tools that assess the system level performance of the MDS kill chain including radar acquisition, tracking, and discrimination; battle manager engagement planning, warfighter interaction, and engagement coordination with other MDS systems; and interceptor acquisition, tracking, and discrimination. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a geographically distributed team.

 

Desired Qualifications.  Candidates with strong systems engineering or MDS analysis background and demonstrated collaboration and presentation skills are desired. System level interface design and specification development experience is desired. Additionally, candidate should possess knowledge of the Missile Defense System (MDS), a strong background with Matlab, Python, Jupiter Notebooks, Tableau or similar analytical tools, system analysis, and system level testing.

 

Education:  Requires educational credentials meeting the classification standards for engineers (minimum Bachelor’s Degree).

 

5. Junior Systems Engineer:

 

Junior Systems Engineer Requirements:

Job Description:    Participate in a Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) environment to develop system-of-systems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis.  Analyze and document system of system behaviors to meet emerging needs using Systems Engineering tools and prinicples.  Contributes to publishing change notices to  MDA’s system specification and update of requirements databases, architectural models, interface definitions,   Additionally, support  analysis to allocate and trace system and element level requirements.  Document analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by SC&R and National Team stakeholders.   Create and present briefings within the team and to Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and supporting stakeholders.  Support ad-hoc quick turn internal or customer requests to provide data or resolve issues. Work, and may lead, as member of a multi-discipline team of 2-4 engineers in the execution of these tasks.

 

Required Qualifications:   Individual must possess experience working in a multidisciplinary Systems Engineering team. Must possess experience supporting a DoD or commercial program.  Must demonstrate ability to think critically and effectively convey concepts in papers, presentations, and discussions. Individual must possess good verbal and written communication skills.  Must be capable of working both independently and within a small team environment. Individual must have a current, active Secret security clearance.

 

Desired Qualifications:   Experience using one or more of the following common MBSE tools:  DOORS, UNICOM System Architect, Cameo Enterprise Architect, Rational Rhapsody, etc. Systems engineering experience in one-or-more of BMD systems or capabilities similar to:  EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, kill vehicles, missiles/interceptors, threats & countermeasures, target discrimination, or command and control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.) strongly desired.  Experience with large, complex requirements sets a plus.  Experience with DOORS System Administration tasks and dxl and/or VBA scripting a plus.

 

Education:   Degree and experience in an engineering classification, information systems, mathematics or physics: Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD.
