The Project Engineer will be reporting to the Senior Electrical Project Engineer on the Engineering and Construction team. In addition, the role will interact with the Project Managers and Construction Managers from the Construction team. The Project Engineer will ensure that all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the National Grid Renewables’ established policies and objectives while incorporating all functions related to safety, testing, repair, and maintenance of all equipment used within the owned assets.

Duties
  • Oversee design review of the design aspects of projects that are in development and also projects going into construction.
  • Work directly with the Owner’s Engineer to ensure timely review schedule and making sure concerns are addressed.
  • Communicate regularly with all personnel to ensure satisfaction of internal/external customer requirements.
  • Attend and participate in regular weekly update meetings for all projects they are involved with.
 
Additional Duties
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of design standards and criteria for project infrastructure.
  • Oversee quality aspects of engineering and construction, including ensuring compliance with design standards and accuracy of final documentation and test data.
  • Manage and provide oversight of external professionals who provide technical expertise and project support through design, construction, and operations.
  • Provide technical support to plant operations as may be required for project infrastructure, facilities, and systems.
  • Coordinating contractor submittals and RFI’s, and routing to appropriate persons.
 
Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years in engineering and/or construction.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand technical documentation related to renewable energy projects such as interconnection agreements, facilities studies, permitting documents, local codes and regulations, civil and electrical construction specifications.
  • Proficiency using personal computer tools such as Procore, MS Office, Word, Excel, Visio, AutoCad and Teams.
 
Strong preference may be given to candidates with the following:
  • Proficiency with Procore construction management software
  • Electrical system analytics/SCADA/DA systems and/or communication experience
  • Prior Design experience with wind and solar renewable projects.
  • Proficiency in PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, ETAP and/or EasyPower
  • Experience working with large, regulated utilities and their substation and transmission standards.
  • Experience with energy storage systems.
