Job Summary:

Elligo Health Research is seeking a Director of Business Development that will lead the site network’s study business development strategy and day to day operations of the related team in order to drive study opportunities to network site clients.  Ensuring sufficient trial volume that aligns with the network site’s therapeutic areas of experience and access to patients is critical to meeting site objectives while aligning with our Sponsor and CRO partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Sponsor/CRO Study Outreach Process:

The Director of Business Development is responsible for maintaining and improving the established processes for new study outreach with the objective of maximizing the number of studies in total and across the business development team.

  • Accountable for maximizing study lead drivers and related resources to meet the overall site network pipeline goals.

  • Ensure study prospects, leads and opportunities workflows are executed as efficiently as practical.

  • Assess and build upon current study generation processes, recommend system and process enhancements, while directing the business development team. 

  • Lead a change management process to build organizational understanding of proposed changes, establish support from key leadership stakeholders, and effectively implement and track results.

  • Monitor ongoing study leads and determine when to jump in to assist in closing deals as necessary.

Sponsor/CRO Relationship Development:

The Director of Business Development is responsible for collaborating with the larger business development and trial placement teams to establish standardized processes to mature Sponsor and CRO relationships for the benefit of all stakeholders.

  • Build cross functional partnerships to support resource alignment to strategy in addition to supporting effective internal communication channels.

  • Responsible for the optimal deployment of the business development team, including making recommendations for changing roles, coverage models, or team configurations in order to maximize study lead productivity.

Operational Metrics and Team Leadership:

The Director of Business Development is responsible for hiring, coaching, developing, and leading the Business Development team.

 
  • Direct reports include Associate Director of Business Development and Business Development Managers.

    • Host weekly business development team meetings and one on one meetings with each business development team member to provide support and guidance to enable weekly production goals are achieved.

    • Work with relevant department team members on strategic employment growth opportunities, coaching and personal development.

  • Responsible for tracking and reporting on department KPI’s that drive a healthy pipeline of study opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • BS in related field in Business, Healthcare arena

  • Requires minimum of 10 years of progressively business development experience in the clinical research industry

  • Requires minimum of 5 years experience directly managing a business development team

  • Requires extensive experience in Salesforce.com

  • Proven track record of strategic planning-to-execution, cross-functional collaboration, change management and effective team leadership

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

 

Work Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment or remotely. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 37.5 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Periodic travel (<15%) is required for this position.
