General Manager

A full-service mechanical contracting firm with over 35 years of specializing in commercial and industrial projects is looking for a direct hire General Manager.  The company has a long-standing reputation of dependability with experience in every sector of construction.

The General Manager will oversee, manage, supervise and direct all field and warehouse operations, functions and staff involved with meeting project needs and requirements.  

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Role Type: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and direct the day-to-day functions and operations of all field trades
    • Plumbing
    • Piping
    • Sheet Metal
    • Office
  • Identify, develop and manage pre-project staffing, equipment and materials needs, scheduling and priorities
  • Review projects, project status, costs incurred and related project-specific timelines, budgets, costs and expenditures
  • Determine and/or approve recommendations for staffing levels, crew size, crew assignments and related matters
  • Coordinate with internal staff, department and others on projects, client needs, pre-planning and on-going issues
  • Represent the Company to outside vendors, contractors, clients and others
  • Develop, present, justify and monitor overall Tucson Operations Division.         
  • Review and approve purchases and procurements
  • Oversee personnel actions including, but not limited to hiring decisions, staff training and development, promotions, demotions, discipline and discharge
  • Review and monitor policies and procedures for relevancy
  • Determine staff compliance to policies and procedures
  • As required, propose changes to existing and/or new policies and procedures
  • Manage the Division’s cost of sales budgets and goals to meet company goals
  • Lead development of division to define and/or redefine roles, responsibilities, goals, and performance management   
  • Compile and present a variety of regularly scheduled and/or ad hoc financial, statistical oral and/or written reports and presentations
Requirements:​​​
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or High School Diploma or Equivalent a minimum
  • Ten (10) years of related construction experience at superintendent level or above
  • Knowledge of construction trades including, but not limited to plumbing, piping, sheet metal, shop and office/warehouse operations
  • Knowledge of the principles of staff management and supervision
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state and local statutes, rules, regulations, codes, ordinances and other governing requirements
  • Knowledge of the principles of Construction and Project Management Knowledge of trends and practices in construction management and operations
  • Skill in reading, interpreting, explaining and utilizing applicable Federal, state and local statutes, rules, regulations, codes, ordinances and other governing requirements
  • Skill in reading blueprints, schematics and other construction-related/specific documents and Forms
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, Contractors, clients and other doing business with Midstate Mechanical, Inc.
  • Skill in simultaneously managing multiple projects and assignments
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of standard office and specialized
  • Must have at the time of application and must maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry heavy, bulky items, supplies and/or materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and scaffolds
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and work within a variety of construction environments
  • May be exposed to extreme weather conditions involving job site assignments
  • May be exposed to hazardous work conditions associated with any construction jobsite
  • May be required to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-traditional work schedules depending upon the needs of the project
