Position Overview: Associate Partner, ESG Communications
Associate Partners come from a range of professional backgrounds, including former journalists, campaigns leaders, government staffers, and internal corporate roles, as well as careers as business strategists. Associate Partners are experienced client advisors who bring significant ESG experience across corporate and financial communications and have been responsible for sustainability communications within a listed company, at an investment institution or at another consultancy. Associate Partners bring an innovative and collaborative mindset to the team and are highly skilled at identifying business development opportunities and managing complex projects. Associate Partners have the opportunity to apply their experiences and insights to critical, global issues for our clients whilst having a genuine role in shaping our firm.

In this role, you will:
 
  • Provide a leadership role across the business, focused on ensuring that ESG is integrated across our work, to ensure that, as a team, we are able to have an impact and deliver results for clients
  • Instill innovative ways of working across the whole agency to ensure we are building a truly integrated firm - through training and through development of new approaches
  • Manage a significant number of client accounts and relationships, sector, and or functional groups.
  • Manage critical components of client relationships, functions, and or initiatives
  • Make significant contributions to client impact, and retention or business processes.
  • Manage DGA team members - support their professional development and work to identify additional development opportunities.
  • Help clients with strategic decision-making
  • Handle projects with limited or no supervision
  • Lead and identify business development initiatives 
Expectations of a DGA Associate Partner:
 
  • Significantly contributes to and drives client strategy
  • Develop strategy for client engagements
  • Originate and win new business
  • Develop junior talent-Support and mentor other team members
  • Contribute to thought leadership pieces, marketing activities and other relevant events
  • Collaborate with wider DGA colleagues in other offices and Dentons lawyers
  • Maintain established networks, share network contacts with the wider DGA team to the benefit of the group, and continue to expand network connections  
  • Support learning and development initiatives-Lead training sessions
  • Contribute to DGA’s own ESG agenda
  • Strong culture-setter who will get stuck in and help us grow the business by building new ways of working at DGA
  • Brings in DGA full potential to engage with clients on their most complex issues
  • Comfortable working across different sectors and familiar with the key issues in each industry as well as investor and regulatory trends.
  • Think and act in a collaborative, creative and integrated way
  • Idea generation 
Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or equivalent work experience equal to 3+ years in a relevant role9+ years of experience in an ESG-related communications-related role, in-house or at an agency, or the capabilities of someone of that level of experience
  • Significant experience in ESG strategy development and multi-stakeholder communications, e.g., materiality analysis and issue identification, stakeholder mapping and engagement, narrative creation, ESG communications in the context of financial and crisis communications, M&A, litigation etc
  • Experience being part of a team that counsels senior management teams and who engages the wider agency team to upskill them in ESG related capabilities
  • Highly collaborative working style
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of themes and issues across industries, investor trends and preferences and regulatory change with an entrepreneurial mindset to developing new ways of working
  • Experience commissioning research and setting strategies, using full suite of tools and skills within the team so that our work is as integrated and progressive
