ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical GLP, cGMP, ICH-QbD guidelines, intellectual property, and regulatory requirements. Aware of industry best practices in analytical chemistry and helps set strategy for the function. Implements novel functional or cross-functional strategies to solve challenging issues.
  • Technical skills to design study protocols, and to conduct experiments using analytical instruments including HPLC, GC, FT-IR, UV-VIS spectrophotometry, Karl Fischer, laser diffraction PSA, exec.
  • Initiates, directs, and executes scientific research and/or development strategies through staff or individual studies which are critical.
  • Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products, and problems. laboratory research.
  • Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
  • Makes major contributions to scientific literature and conferences.
  • Participates in the development of patent applications.
  • Uses professional concepts to contribute to the development of company concepts and principles and to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.
  • Independently directs and executes R&D of a scientifically complex nature.
  • Develops proposals for R&D and writes reports.
  • Understands and actively supports the company goals and has developed expertise in relevant scientific areas.
  • Demonstrates ability to interact effectively within the research team context and across the company as a whole.
  • Shows capacity to interact well with commercial and academic collaborators.
  • Appreciates and values different perspectives. For example, often motivates co-workers and peers to perform their best work.
  • Acts as the administrative and supervisory head of the laboratory; may be responsible for supervising the work of laboratory staff. Interacts will all appropriate internal and external individuals regarding relevant aspects of work.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • BS/BA in chemistry or related field with 15 years experience in industry + 5 years at the scientist level; or MS/MA in chemistry or related field with 10 years in industry + 3 years and the scientist level; or a Ph.D. with at least 5 years in the industry.
  • Candidates should have a solid record of scientific achievement in all previous levels
  • 2-3 years of prior experience supervising 2-5 scientists preferred
  • Strong background in data analysis and use of statistical software such as MiniTab or StatEZ preferred
​​​PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to perform physical activities associated with an analytical laboratory including lifting up to 50 lbs.
