Position Summary
Corsica Technologies develops its own custom software to improve operational efficiency, to drive client engagement and satisfaction, to support sales efforts, to improve security, and to assist with our own and our clients' digital transformation efforts. The Senior Software Engineer, through his/her expertise and professional maturity, leads by example, providing direction and mentoring to other Software Engineers as we plan, design, develop and maintain these custom-developed software solutions.
Responsibilities
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for technical planning and design, software development and maintenance, as well as mentoring team members on assigned projects. This includes the following:
  • Provide leadership and mentor others on the team.
  • Define development processes and standards.
  • Research possible approaches to meeting technical requirements.
  • Make technology selection and design recommendations.
  • Promote innovation and learning on the team.
  • Outline code and system designs.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Write code.
  • Test and review code.
  • Write and maintain system documentation.
  • Deploy code.
  • Debug/analyze code to determine root cause of problems/issues.
  • Maintain and improve code quality.
Some of this work may be done individually, but it will all be performed in a collaborative environment as part of a cross-functional project team, including, as appropriate, other Software Developers, Designers, Business Analysts and Product Managers.

Employees who make on-site service or sales calls in locations where state or local government(s) have mandated COVID vaccine(s) to enter a building, are required to provide proper proof of having the vaccine and booster as required by legislation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Qualified candidates will have a deep understanding of the following:

Education, Experience, and Certifications
The following list is not intended to be a specific list of hard requirements, but rather gives examples of the types of experience that would make someone a good fit for this position:
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience as a software developer or equivalent
  • One or more general purpose languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, JavaScript, C#)
  • Experience with APIs (esp. built in Ruby or Node), relational databases (esp. Postgres), Test frameworks (e.g. Cypress, RSpec, Jasmine), CI/CD pipelines, Version control (GIT)

Supervisory Responsibility:
  • This role does not have direct supervisory responsibility but does provide direction and mentoring to other Software Engineers.
Work Environment:
  • This is a remote-work position with no in-office requirements.​​​​​​
Physical Demands:
  • Job will require sitting for long periods of time, and may occasionally require bending, lifting, and driving.
