GSE Absolute is currently working with a major client who are looking to hire a Manufacturing Maintenance Technician I located in Phoenix, AZ on a full-time permanent basis starting ASAP!  This is a Day Shift/ Night Shift role, working the hours from 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am.  The pay rate is $28-$36.00 p/h, DOE.

Summary:  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety. This position is responsible for start-up of equipment, preventive maintenance, equipment change-overs, equipment/building repairs, basic/routine facility maintenance while following all safety measures. The candidate should have experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.

Qualifications:  
General:
  • Basic understanding of industrial electrical components including VFD and Servo Motors
  • Basic understanding of Pneumatics, and Hydraulics
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical blueprints
  • Ability to work with supervision to complete assigned work
Education and/or Experience:                              
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • 2-3 years of both mechanical and electrical industrial maintenance experience.
  • Low voltage trouble shooting (480 volts).
  • PLC (siemens preferred)
  • Trouble shooting, pneumatics, hydraulics, converting/processing machine experience a plus.
Language Skills:                              
  • English, oral, and written communication skills (required)
  • Effectively record and communicate machine repairs both internally and externally.
  • Technical writing skills (preferred)
Mathematical Skills:                                    
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Have understanding of decimals, fractions and the metric system
  • Ability to read basic measuring tools (scales, micrometers, gauges)
Reasoning Ability:                                        
  • Basic reasoning skills
  • Have the ability to work through basic electrical and mechanical issues as they arise and establish the permanent repair method
Computer Skills: 
  • Basic computer skills (required)
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office programs (preferred)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 
  • Valid AZ driver’s license (required)
  • Ability to get forklift certification, (required)
  • Ability to get scissor lift certification, (required)
  • Ability to get boom lift certification, (required)

Safety:

  • Work safely and be able to identify potential safety concerns in company facilities and coach others on safe work practices.
  • Take initiative to bring unsafe conditions to the attention of the appropriate person or resolve personally.
  • Meet all maintenance related OSHA safety regulations including required safety adherence, required inspections, and facility maintenance.
  • Follow up on various maintenance tasks related to safety because of Safety Committee recommendations, inspections, or employee suggestions.
  • Maintain all equipment to OEM, OSHA or companies established safety standards. 
Training 
  • Train less experienced employees in their essential duties. 

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and perform repairs as needed including light building repair
  • Perform Basic Preventative Maintenance (PM) procedures while following a prescribed program and schedule
  • Install basic electrical components, such as switches and limits
  • Fabricate basic items, as needed, for machine repair and improvement
  • Use basic shop tools to perform all necessary repairs and fabrication
  • Follow OEM manuals to perform basic setup and repair procedures
  • Ability to diagnose, repair and find the root cause of basic machine problems that impact quality and productivity

  • Ability to lift to 70 lbs. on occasion
  • Constantly required to move and lift objects (tools, equipment, parts, etc.) of up to 50 lbs.
  • Work may be required to be performed in 8 to 12-hour shifts with mandatory overtime, including weekends
  • While performing the duties of the job, regularly required to communicated (transmit, convey, receive) information
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance, color, and peripheral vision; as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Frequently required to climb, reach, sit, and access confined spaces that require kneeling, crawling, and other positions that require physical maneuvering. This includes bend/twist, stoop, stand, walk, push, and pull
  • Occasionally required to carry and transfer anywhere between 50lbs and 120lbs of different type of material

  • The environment is consistent with a manufacturing and office atmosphere. Heating is provided in the winter and basic cooling in the summer. Work may be required to be performed outside of the building
  • Work is performed by using both hands and arms while in a standing position, including frequent bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, or kneeling for a twelve-hour shift
  • Ability to work in hot/humid or cold environments
  • Moderate noise level
  • Occasionally works in high areas.
