Description
GSE Workforce Solutions, is currently working with a major client who specialize in developing innovative autonomous technology including advanced technology stack purpose-built specifically for long-haul trucks. This includes sensor fusion systems for their unique lightweight mapping solution that allows their trucks to navigate ever-changing highway construction zones.

They are looking for a Systems Engineer with a focus on Sensors to define, validate, and verify sensor and sensor processing requirements as they bring their product to market. Ideally you should have experience having worked in a (warehouse, mining, farming, or agricultural equipment background). Must have at least 4-5 years exp.


Salary: $175-190K, negotiable.  In Mountain View, CA – relocation assistance available.

What we are looking for:
    • Develop top-down sensor and sensor subsystem requirements to allow the truck to handle all driving situations ranging from the common (e.g., merges, lane changes, weather) to the unusual (e.g., construction zones, aggressive drivers)
    • Capture bottoms-up requirements from our working prototypes
    • Allocate sensor requirements to the appropriate hardware and software components, based on functional analysis and an understanding of the system architecture
    • Author ISO 26262 artifacts (Item Definitions, HARAs, Safety and Security Analysis, FMEAs and verification reports) for sensors
    • Perform sensor and sensor subsystem verification and validation testing
    • Work closely with perception, hardware, software and systems teams
    • Support software quality in resolving truck operational issues related to sensors 
Qualifications:
    • A background in sensors, signal processing, robotics and/or mathematics (MS, PhD, or equivalent experience)
    • Theoretical and practical experience with radar, lidar, and camera systems and their specifications
    • Experience with sensor systems on mobile autonomous robots, vehicles or aircraft
    • Experience with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 and UL-4600 and generation of related artifacts (ID, HARA, FMEA, V&V reports).
    • Be a systems thinker
    • Good communication skills and a collaborative bent
    • Proven ability to iterate quickly and work hands-on
Bonus points if you have:
    • Generated Field of View requirements and verified sensor coverage
    • Experience with image signal processing, video communication protocols (e.g., GMSL, Ethernet), and compression interfaces
    • ISO 26262 Functional Safety professional certification
