POSITION: Coating Manager

LOCATION: Rochester, NY

SUMMARY: Our client, a leading hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing company is looking to hire a Coating Manager. In this role, the Coating Manager will serve as the leader of all coating activity reporting into the Components Value Stream Manager. The Coating Manager will be responsible for building the team and providing oversight of ink make and roll-to-roll manufacturing operations. This position requires a high level of technical aptitude and demonstrated sound manufacturing and/or engineering judgement. The Manager will be relied upon to use their experience, and collaboration with Engineering, for creative problem solving, innovation and the ability to anticipate and correct technical issues before they happen. The Manager will lead and manage difficult technical challenges as well as large scale projects as they relate to optimization of the coating operations.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

• Define the vision and lead the hiring process for Coating operation, as the operations staff will report to Coating Manager.
• Drive continuous improvement, 5S, and cost cutting measures.
• Work directly with and support the technical lead & project manager that is responsible for bringing the ink making and coating manufacturing processes online from start-up through validation. Includes supporting SOP development, Work Instructions, best practices, etc.
• Work directly with and support technical lead & project manager in scale-up efforts from bench to manufacturing.
• Analyze production data, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions for improvements in product design, manufacture, and operations that will increase system performance and product reliability.
• Develop a high level of standards and expected quality for operations staff
• Develop technical solutions with a customer-oriented approach.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Engineering degree or other relevant engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of technical roll-to-roll coating work experience.
• 5+ years of managing a production team
• Experience with the design, development, and operation of roll-to-roll coating equipment.
• Experience with the design, development, and operation of mixing equipment.
• Experience with quality systems and driving an expectation for quality within operations
