Description
The GIS Analyst is responsible for the accurate reporting of Centric’s fiber and natural gas assets utilizing various tools including OSP, 3GIS, ArcPro, ArcMap, etc. This includes research, modifications and updates to the fiber and gas line specifications, features, and facilities. This position reports to the Director of GIS.


RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Utilize ESRI ArcGIS tools, software (ArcMap, ArcPro, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Server, Portal, ArcGIS Online, etc.) and online/mobile applications.​​​​​​
  • Create, update, and modify databases including MS Access databases and ESRI geodatabases.
  • Assist with QA/QC process to ensure CAD and/or GIS production standards are maintained.
  • Interprets imagery, surveys, as-built drawings, and engineering/construction drawings of both existing and proposed gas distribution facilities to enter, modify, and update GIS data within OSP Insights database.
  • Updates, maintains shapefiles with One Call System (811).
  • Performs data gathering, analysis, and conversion tasks.
  • Produces detailed digital and hard copy maps, presentations.
  • Perform tasks with a high degree of efficiency, detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • Research archived hardcopy and digital asset documentation.
  • Support fiber design and construction, subdivision development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Equivalent Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or related engineering or science discipline. (Or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of one year GIS experience with fiber optics or telecommunication network experience. An equivalent combination of education, experience and training considered.
  • Minimum 1 year experience using fiber network mapping platforms such as OSP Insight, VETRO FiberMap, or 3-GIS.
  • Understanding of fiber installation methods. Including: Fiber to the Home (FTTH) or business, Outside Plant (OSP), splicing of fiber, PON splitters, aerial, and underground fiber plant
  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)​
  • ESRI ArcMap 10.2 or higher and ArcPro 2.x
  • Strong understanding of cartographic principles

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Create maps from OSP Insights for design, construction, permitting, and splicing.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong time-management skills and schedule flexibility to accommodate multiple project deadlines and deliverables and the ability to follow procedures
  • Work both independently and in a team environment to meet project needs
  • Ability to learn new software and applications as needed
  • Able to travel occasionally to field locations, satellite offices, or training locations. Overnight stay may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Familiar with IQGEO products
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Google Earth Pro
  • Experience utilizing and creating scripts using Python, SQL, Visual Basic, and Arcade
  • Ability to create apps within ESRI’s online and mobile applications suite (Survey123, AppBuilder, Web AppBuilder, Operations Dashboard, Workforce)
  • Ability to update existing regulatory and integrity management documents and author new reports as needed
  • Ability to learn Fiber Microduct systems and the tracking of the duct in OSP InSight
