Education and Experience
Normally requires a minimum of 2 years of experience or a Master of Science in Engineering
  • 4 Year Degree in Engineering or Science from an ABET accredited institution – Required; degree in Chemical Engineering preferred
  • Performs design engineering and analysis for less complex units under general supervision.  With additional experience within a specialty, is expected to assist in the design of larger and more complex units.


Essential Duties
Analytical skills for troubleshooting designs not working as planned, asking the right questions and finding answers that work
  • Ingenuity for using the broad concepts of chemical engineering  and applying them to address specific problems
  • Interpersonal skills in developing positive working relationships with other employees working with the overall project execution process.
  • Math skills for using the principals of advanced math topics including troubleshooting their work, calculus for analysis and design
  • Work on items of limited complexity in a support role while minimally managed.
  • Support Senior Process personnel with clerical data entry elements and checking as part of Process Engineering skills development.
  • Perform design and sizing calculations for simpler equipment types under general supervision
  Core Competencies
  • Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities and implemented in work design
  • Interface with other disciplines for informational needs
  • Learn or be able to track and report budget and schedule on assigned project work.
  • Beginner level experience with Industry Standard Engineering Simulation Software (Aspen, HySys, Pro II, and the like)
  • Report status on work assignments with awareness of budget and schedule
  • Learn or be able to read engineering drawings
  • Learn or be able to use basic engineering software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ability to work with data to generate periodic reports as may be needed
  • Meets company quality assurance requirements for personal work assignments
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit; climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception, and ability to focus.  Employee must be able to climb ladders as typically found in petrochemical facilities.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may periodically be required to travel to client job-sites, usually involving heavy industrial (chemical) production facilities and access to all areas of the facility. Therefore, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; the risk of electric shock; and sound levels within the typical industrial mitigation range.
