Historic Hudson Valley (HHV) is a Westchester-based cultural non-profit that welcomes visitors to five National Historic Landmarks. The Education department of HHV offers an array of school programs, public tours and programs, and digital offerings for audiences that include K-12 teachers meeting curricular objectives and their students; suburban families seeking weekend leisure activities; and a diverse array of heritage tourists. HHV is responsible for the public visitation program at Kykuit, a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, that is maintained by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. HHV has several openings for seasonal Part-Time Kykuit Museum Educators to join our team.
Job Overview

Tell the stories of the Rockefeller family, the world class art collection, and the historic buildings at Kykuit through engaging, thought-provoking, and accurate tours.

Deliver meaningful content with clarity and sensitivity.

Be responsible for the safety of the visitor and the security of the collections when on tour.

Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Must work at a variety of HHV sponsored fall events including the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze
Requirements

Must demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the arc of American history and the role the Rockefeller family played in American history.

Must be available for trainings sessions during the week and on the weekends.

Must demonstrate a willingness to learn a three-hour long tour that covers a wide range of topics and a variety of art pieces

Must have strong storytelling and communication skills, and the ability to give tours to visitors of varying ages and language skills.

General understanding of museum operations and procedures

Possess good customer visitor service skills

Ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure.

Successful candidates are required to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19, absent medical, religious, or pregnancy related accommodations and will be required to submit proof at time of hire.

Ability to speak additional languages a plus
