Job Description: We are looking for an Accounting Manager to supervise, track and evaluate day-to-day activities. The Accounting Manager’s responsibilities include establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting information. We are also looking for someone to work to oversee part of our accounting team.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
    • month and end-year process
    • accounts payable/receivable
    • cash receipts
    • general ledger & reconciliations
    • payroll and utilities
    • cash forecasting
    • revenue and expenditure variance analysis
    • capital assets reconciliations
    • stock transactions, exercises, grants, 83b, and misc.
    • check runs
    • fixed asset activity
    • job-cost accounting
    • inventory tracking system
  • Support the Controller with day-to-day operations and special projects related to the Business Area and Business Unit financial reporting.
  • Leads basic and advanced accounting functions including compilation of financial information, journal entry processing and approval, reconciliations, and the analysis of data.
  • Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with both generally accepted accounting principles & FAR cost principles.
  • Reviews and approves standard journal entries, account reconciliations, revenue recognition determinations for contracts, and consolidation schedules.
  • Provides financial information as required or requested to management.
  • Serves as a day-to-day leader and main POC for staff and interns.
  • Leverages various software tools such as spreadsheets and databases to review or create supporting documentation for schedules and journal entries.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance with deadlines, company policies, FAR Cost Principles with a high level of accuracy.
  • Meet financial accounting objectives and timelines
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
Requirements and skills
 
  • Proven working experience as Accounting Manager or Accounting Supervisor
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Excel, accounting software and databases
  • Great interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Self-Starter with initiative and strong research skills
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and GAAP accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical skills
  • A strong interest in performing technical accounting research over a broad range of topics
  • Able to navigate and interpret relevant authoritative literature and evaluate and recommend solutions to senior management
  • Ability to direct and supervise
  • BS degree in Accounting
  • 4-8 years’ experience, and 2 or more years of work experience as a manager/supervisor

Salary: $90,000 – 130,000 annually, based on experience
