The Electrical Assembly Technician requires a high degree of problem-solving ability, ability to wire complex and precision assemblies and complicated machines to build a quality product. The machine has critical electrical specifications and operating relationships with components and completed assemblies that require the application of skilled electrical principles and a broad knowledge of electrical techniques. The Electrical Assembly Technician assists with final inspection and testing of machinery to ensure equipment meets performance standards and requirements.
Overview- Electrical Assembly of complex units where a high degree of problem-solving and extreme care, skilled workmanship, and accuracy are required to meet strict inspection, testing and operating specifications
- Position, erect, align, level electrical wiring, components, electrical panels and integrate their operations; performs fitting, aligning, and other components incidental to the electrical assembly of the machine.
- Routes, wires, assembles, and installs electrical and electronic components in cabinets, electronics enclosures and on assembled machines to complete functionality of integrated components according to specifications.
- Reads and interprets work orders, schematics, and specifications to determine established electrical assembly methods.
- Cuts wire to specified lengths, using wire cutters.
- Cuts plastic sleeves and slips sleeves over wire ends to insulate connections.
- Crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping devices.
- Routes, combs, twists, wraps, ties, and attaches wire to terminal points, according to layout, using soldering gun and hand tools.
- Connects wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, condensers, switches, and installs accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using soldering gun and hand tools.
- Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights, and other electrical testing instruments.
- High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
- Troubleshoot/identify problems and communicate issues to supervisor or engineering department.
- Inspect product per engineering specification to ensure proper assembly.
- Comply with all other duties as needed to assist the company in attaining its objectives.
- 2-4 years of related experience preferred
- Experience with centerless grinding is a plus
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent required, technical school experience preferred
- Basic reading skills. Must be able to follow directions
- Regularly lift 30-50 pounds
- Regularly perform repetitive tasks
- Regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately
- Must be willing to work on their feet for the majority of the shift
- Follow company procedures and directives.
