The CNC Machinist requires a high degree of problem-solving ability, setup and run complex and precision machined parts to create a quality component. The parts have critical specifications that require the application of skilled machining and manufacturing principles and a broad knowledge of machining techniques. ECG Machinist – Cutoff & Needle Pointing assists with inspection of parts made at the machine to ensure components meets performance standard and requirements.  

Overview 
  • Program, setup and run simple to complex machined parts where a high degree of problem-solving and extreme care, skilled workmanship, and accuracy are required to meet strict inspection, testing and operating specifications 
  • Retrieve tooling and work holding required to build setup. Install the tools and work holding required to hold part and machine part in machine. Assure tooling and work holding are accurately installed to produce quality parts.  
  • Perform cutoff and needle pointing operations for customer manufacturing contracts

Material types  
  • Stainless steel, Inconel, brass, aluminum 
Essential duties and responsibilities 
  • Programming, setup, and operation of CNC equipment 
  • Ability to interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing 
  • Sets up jobs in accordance with layouts provided.  
  • Performs in-process inspections during production, including adjusting tool lengths and offsets as necessary. 
  • Performs in-process inspections utilizing measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, depth micrometers, calipers, and other related equipment). 
  • Interfaces with engineering regarding first piece inspection. 
  • Understanding and knowledge of G-Code with the ability to edit and/or make suggestions to improve on existing programs, fixturing and how to reduce set- up times within the company. 
  • Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information that will continually improve the company and operations. 
  • Maintains machine and associated work area(s) utilizing company’s 5-S and lean culture. 
  • Processes work orders/completes the machining process. 
  • Assemble and preset tooling for subsequent operations during automated cycles to reduce machine downtime. 
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills 
  • Assist manufacturing and design engineers in optimizing designs for machining operations 
  • Proactively review drawings and procure the necessary tools and gauges prior to the start of each job 
  • Organize and maintain a safe and clean machine shop using 6S methodology 
Requirements 
  • 2-4 years of related experience preferred 
  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent required, technical school experience preferred  
Physical demands and abilities 
  • Basic reading skills. Must be able to follow directions 
  • Regularly lift 30-50 pounds 
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks 
  • Regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately 
  • Must be willing to work on their feet for most of the shift 
  • Follow company procedures and directives.
